Me and my boyfriend had the pleasure of staying with the Bansal family for 8 days over Diwali and we had the the most amazing week here.
Having never been to India before we were unsure what to expect, it was such a relief when we got to the homestay as it was a little Oasis away from all the maddness in the city centre. We was wlecomed by Ajay with Chai and some really tasty biscuits which was really appreciated after the overnight flight. We chatted about out plans whilst we were in Delhi and Ajay advised that he would be able to arrange most things if we just let him know.
Our first few days in Delhi were quite an eye opener for us both and we learnt alot of lessons that came in handy throughout our trip round India. It was so comforting to have the house to come back to and to be able to talk things through with Ashu and his family (this involved many late night chats in the garden over a few beers).
Throughout the week we arranged sightseeing tours via Ajay which were all fantastic and ate at the house a few nights.
The food is awesome - Mumma is a fabulous chef - breakfasts are a selection of Indian delights (different each morning) and massive portions. Dinner has to be the best Indian food I have had - I would happily have ate there each night but it would have been rude not to try the other eateries in Delhi.
The room was huge (we had the groundfloor one), clean and had all the amenities you would need.
The Diwali celebrations with Ashu is certainly a night I will never forget - so many fire crackers!!
The family and helpers made our stay the most memorable one out of our 3 week trip in India. We felt so comfortable and have made some fantstic friends, a tear or two was shed when it was time to move on :-)
I can't thank Ashu, his mumma and pappa enough for there hospitality, not forgetting the legend that is Badul, Ramji and Kavita (who kindly helped me put my saree on).
A wonderful team and family, I cant wait to visit again in the future.
Miss you all
