Felt compelled to write this review after experiencing and witnessing Rodney first hand. We didnt do our homework on Rodney and only wish we had. Do the search, read the forums. Rodneys a scammer from way back out to take, cheat and worm his way into your wallet whilst delivering as little as possible. Basically there is no transparency with Rodney and at every turn a new cost suddenly appears. He promotes himself as a tour guide but is not. He is a driver who does his utmost to take you away from what you want to do and to where he will get commission, or a free meal. What was discussed the day before is not the case when you hit the road, and either is the price. Whilst at it, either was the transport. The van we got had no seat belts, nothing on the dash worked, water came up through the floor, drivers side window didnt work and the passenger seat was not secured. Oh and Rodney drives like a man with, well, a drinking problem. Come 2pm he starts talking about needing alcohol and then drives accordingly. Anyway, after speaking to the other guest who were mixed up with Rodney and reading some of the forums and review, it sounds like we should maybe count ourselves as lucky. Sri Lanka is beautiful country with so much to offer, its just a shame people like Rodney can sour it. As mentioned, do your homework on were you want to go and prices and beware Rodney.

We also met Rodney in Colombo, and went with him to his guest house. Stunning views from the balcony, the staff are fantastic cooks, we had some very nice food there.Rodney will try to take over your holiday, offering to organize trips where ever you wish, and will keep trying to push you into his trips and days out. We had some vague plans, and we wanted to keep them vague with no major itinery. We could have stayed here longer, but Rodney was so pushy that it was easier to leave (and then he tried to organise a drver to pick us up from our next destination - Nuwara Eliya and take us to the cultural triangle)
In short, good food, good staff, comfortable but basic rooms, cheap - I think his profits come from the trips. Stay here only if you want someone to structure your holiday completely (and escort you everywhere)

This budget hotel in Kandy is quite simply a superb place to be based if you have any intention of seeing Sri Lanka properly. The guest house itself is clean, unpretentious and located just a 5 minute (free) taxi ride from the centre of Kandy. The staff and cook are world class. Rodney, the owner/manager is a brilliant tour manager and will construct an all inclusive tour of the island which can be tailored to suit your budget and diary. He has contacts all over Sri Lanka and fixed a tour for us which included an air conditioned mini bus, a safe and charming driver, all accommodation (including breakfast and dinner), entry fees to many interesting sites/activities (e.g. temples, elephant riding in Sigiriya, a safari in Yala National Park which is not to be missed...we saw leopards and elephants in the wild!). We had a wonderfully memorable holiday which was expertly organized at a very reasonable cost and was totally stress free. Highly recommended!

We meet this guy at Colombo Rail Station, very nice and helpfull.
His guest house is very good located but the first evening one of his employee went in our room zhile we were outside, hopefully we had all with us.
Then he proposed us a trip around Sri Lanka, a very bad experience, the only positive was his very nice driver who helped us during our stay there.
We spent all our time in the car, not very restfull, then we had tyo fight everyday to get what we paid for, it was very ennoying. The last night he even try noit to pay the guesthouse he peomised us next to airport before our leave.
During our stay other customer complained also against him at the Colombo Tourist Office.
So it was a terrible experience for us and I want people to know about it.
