“beautiful island but..”

We recently visited the island for the day. We were very amazed with the beauty of the place. Very clean and beautiful furnishings and decoration.
We left the island with mixed feelings as indeed the place is amazing, however we didn't feel the price $140 paanga ( for 2 ppl) reflected what we received. The day trip suggests it includes lunch , however on arrival there were some items that didn't include dessert and it our lunch was on the small side. A free juice or water would have been lovely to go with the lunch but it was all extra, We also had to pay extra for the snorkeling hire, whereas the other island offered them for free.
Service was a bit poor, lacking in enthusiasm and the typical Tongan charisma.
On departure we greeted the owner good bye and he didn't reply to us or acknowledged our visit for the day. Which we felt was a bit rude, We rate the island for what it looks like , but don't rate the day trip , a nearer island offers similar views and much friendlier service and a more authentic feel to the place.

“Truly amazing”

Beautifully designed 'fale' situated on a spectacular white sandy beach Island. We've never seen anything quite like this here and is the one place we will definitely take family and friends to. The staff are extremely friendly and food is great!

Kayaks and snorkeling gear are available and free to use. The water is pristine, no coral, and sand so powdery white. No signs of roaches or spiders. The Island is immaculate.

It is truly an amazing place and I'm really impressed. I wish that the mainland looked more like this, traditional and spectacular.

Room Tip: There are only two types of fale, Superior and Deluxe (with the exception of a Honeymoon suite). We...

“Fantastic food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We stayed five nights at Fafa island resort in January 2012. We travelled with two infants (5 and 23 months). The fales are beautiful and eco friendly. Solar power and rainwater. The bathroom has two open walls giving you an exotic natural openair feeling. Each fale has a private garden which is very nice.

The kids slept fantastic! 12 hours a night and 3 hours during the day. The beds were very comfortable. As we travelled in the monsoon period we had some problems sleeping in the tropical storms.

The restaurant and food quality is fantastic, 5 stars! It is the best food we have had in the pacific islands! Worth going back for! The restaurant does not have a kids menu and we were charged full price for the infant´s meal even if we just asked for a little bit of pasta as she does not eat much. We had brought some food for the baby, and the kitchen were helpful to prepare that for us.

Management is very friendly and helpful. They are on site all the time and the whole island experience is very well quality ensured. We got excellent help to arrange a rental car for a good price.

The island has no pool and the beach is not great for swimming due to corals, vegetation and tide water. Some areas, like in front of the restaurant, is better for swimming and snorkling. The water around the island is shallow but if you venture far enough it is good.

There are some mosquitoes but the bites were nothing special and they don´t carry tropical deceases. The hotel provides insect nets and repellant in the rooms.

The airport transfer is charged with 20 Euro per person per way, 80 Euro per couple for a return airport transfer. The daily boat transfers to the main island is free of charge.

“bliss on an island”

Island paradise off the coast of Tonga. The accommodation is world class and private. There are very few people on the island so it is very quiet and peaceful. The food is very tasty and the staff terrific. The evening delivery of a kerosene lantern to the deck was a lovely touch

“Peaceful paradise”

What an amazing place! The food was great and loved the fale, so beautiful being in nature and having our own beach, totally recharged our batteries and have never felt so relaxed. Fafa was just what we needed after a busy year. We didn't think it was expensive at all, the food and drink bill converted back to NZD was great. Would definitely recommend this if you are wanting a well deserved break in a paradise. We can't wait to go back!!

Room Tip: We were in Pua, it was great and very private.
