Unfortunately Budva as a whole did not live up to expectations. We had spent 4 nights in the beautiful Dubrovnik and drove to Budva to stay for a further 5 nights. It turned out to be a Russian version of Benidorm which is fine if that is what you are looking for but wasn't for us. The hotel itself is about a 30 minute walk from the Old Town and is surrounded by low level apartment buildings and a busy road but does manage to separate itself from the busy surroundings quite well. As a whole the hotel is well equipped and clean, especially the pool area. The room however was not as nice. It stank of smoke and smelt like it hadn't been aired since the last guests left. The carpet was filthy with all sorts of stains and the bathroom smelled of urine. The room had no information and no price for the minibar. This was a shame as the size and fittings in the room were good and it had a huge balcony. The staff were helpful, however only two of them spoke English to a conversational standard and it could be difficult to ask questions of the other staff. The reception had no real information for guests and could not provide us with a map of the area. We decided to return to Dubrovnik for the rest of our trip and didn't look back.
