We stayed at the Slovenska Plaza in October 2011 for one night. We were en route from Tirana Albania, to Podgorica Montenegro where we were heading for the Montenegro vs England football (soccer) international match. We had read all the reviews on Tripadvisor, & despite some of the negative reviews we decided that the location & the value were too good to miss.
I'm glad we made this decision!
We arrived by car. Simply follow the main road through Budva & it's on the sea side of the road. Simple. There is a barrier operated car park. Simply drive in & take the paper ticket. 24 hour parking worked out at 4 Euros. I can pay that for 30 minutes in London! The car park has shaded parking if required (the shade provided by solar panels - nice eco-thinking Slovenska Plaza).
Lobby / reception. Enormous! Quite classy looking with lots of marble. There were plenty of people coming & going, but we were dealt with relatively quickly. The staff spoke good English & knew what they were doing. Once checked in we were taken to our rooms on a golf buggy. Very entertaining. No tips required.
Rooms. The complex has a Spanish villa feel to it. Lots of individual buildings on 2 storeys, interconnected with wide walkways & vine covered pathways. we had a 3 bed room. The furniture was a little basic, but everything was very clean. Not many channels on the TV. The bathrooms had clearly been refurbished, & again, very clean. The shower was of the "drench the room" type, Not ideal for everyone, but fine for us. The room had a kitchen section, that had a fridge, hob, sink, & plenty of cooking equipment. The balcony was very spacious, with plastic furniture. As one of the closest hotels to the sea in Budva, then this was a nice are to hang out. My only fault of the place was that the door out to the balcony didn't seem massively secure.
The complex. Plenty of facilities including supermarkets, a couple of restaurants, bars, a couple of swimming pools, travel agents, art gallery, & even a doctors & a dentist. Although out of season, most seemed to be open & operational.
Location. The best feature. A few metres to the beach. Plenty of beachfront restaurants & bars in this area. Only 10 minutes to the marina & the old town, without paying old town prices (plus we could park the car at our hotel).
Value for money. We couldn't fault this at 54 euros for the room for 3 of us. fantastic.
Overall, budget priced accommodation, but you get more than a budget feeling. Recommended.
Room Tip: Ask for sea view and refurbished bathroom. we got both.
