“Poor service”

We spent 2 nights here with two young children. We stayed in an 'apartment' with a sofa we managed to convert into two beds for the children -with a bit of creative effort. Location is great and our room was quiet. The entire room was tomato juice red, it almost crossed the line into funky. The room itself was comfortable, but we were without hot water for the best part of one day. Staff were not helpful, and we felt we were inconveniencing one woman behind the reception counter who grudgingly interrupted her phone call (clearly a personal call) the 3 times we needed to ask her something. As luck would have it, our four year old broke a glass, the first breakage in 4 months of travelling. The hotel publishes a list of damage charges in their information booklet, and, despite us arguing that we didn't have hot water for a day, they insisted we paid the 5 Euro charge for the broken glass. Avoid this hotel.

“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2009

Clean, nicely decorated. Good location. Everything seems very new and/or renovated back to original (or almost original) splendor. Clean good size bathroom. Could do a better job with breakfast options.

“One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed @”

This is one of my favorite hotels to have ever stayed in. I will be there again in a few weeks. Amazing view of the city from rooms and from the nice restaurant and rooftop porch. Rooms have balconies for most part and offer great night life. Bar nearby the hotel although I didn't go to it. Be sure to get a room on the 3rd floor or up on soccer game nights. ESPECIALLY DURING WORLD CUP!!! HAHA nice restaurant. We had dinner and breakfast there. Parking across the street. They did have Internet available in the lobby and Wired in the rooms. Incredible night views

“Good quality but!!!!!!”

I stayed at the Black Eagle for 3 nights, I found that the room was spacious and reasonably well equiped. TV, mini bar.
Breakfast was good although the fried eggs need careful selection!
My room was on the 2nd floor at the front overlooking the tram stop, so a little noisy. Try for upper level rooms at rear if you want quiet.
The showers do not have a shower head holder so you have to wash with one hand! The room I had did not have any drawers! Adequate hanging space but nowhere for sweaters, socks etc.

“Beautifully restored, excellent value”

Stayed one night only, arrived late and departed early and cannot comment on service quality, but I travel extensively and I rate this one of the best value hotels in Europe. Located in the centre of Oradea, the beauty of the building itself and the quality of the renovation are worth experiencing on their own and the price I paid - 60 Euros - excellent value. Breakfast was good and the coffee was tasty, unusually for Romania.
