Stayed here as a US government traveler, and highly advise others to look elsewhere in town. I slept poorly--neighborhood is full of car alarms and barking dogs and all-night-crowing roosters. Good soundproof windows, but room was so hot and stuffy (even in December) that I had to choose all night between Hot and Loud. Room: spotty internet, worn-out mattress, ancient small TV. Water is geothermal, therefore smelling of sulpher--not drinkable, barely shower-able.
Despite the above and the general air of worn-outness, I stayed the first night, figuring I had to make allowances for a small city in Romania. But I moved elsewhere for the rest of my stay and felt like I'd escaped a jail sentence.
Restaurant never did bring my entree, just an apology after an hour, so I missed dinner.
None of the above was the staff's fault; they were terrific, but stuck working for, and around, the worn-out and uncomfortable facilities.
