“Loved This Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Stayed here overnight after visiting Machu Picchu. The accommodation included dinner in the restaurant, and I had the opportunity of choosing from the menu at the time I checked in so that it would be ready at the time I nomionated for dinner. The staff was friendly, the room clean and a good size, and the meal was great, as was the buffet breakfast the next morning. I was allowed to leave my bags there after checking out so that I could explore the town before catching the train to Cusco, and they even sent the bags to the railway station for me. The town of Aguas Calientas is not very exciting, basically just a stayover for Machu Picchu, but this hotel made the stay better and was a real highlight.

Room Tip: A room at the front would provide a better view.

“Great Hotel”

We spent 2 nights here during our visit to Machu Picchu. The food was good, the shower had great pressure and the toiletries were fantastic. It was just what we needed after a day on Machu Picchu, and has a great view of the river.

“Okay Hotel but Way too Expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

Nice, apparently new facility. Excellent, friendly service. WiFi didn't work in room but in some locations in the hall. Food was good. Room was not very clean. Plumbing issues appear to be normal in Peruvian hotels, but this one had multiple issues and there was nobody willing and/or able to fix them. We know Aguas Calientes is small and there is not enough competition. But still, we paid much too much for this hotel.

“very comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

We spent the night here after doing our Machu Picchu visit. We were dropped off with about an hour of light left and the room we had was beautiful, with a large balcony over looking the Urubamba river surrounded by mountains on all sides. Check in was easy with complimentary drinks and a "gourmet" dinner. Avoid the gourmet dinner. Instead, try to make it to the hotel Inkaterra which is hidden behind the train station and well worth the walk up. The breakfast wasn't much better. Everything being stale, although we did show up a bit later. Even so, for the appearance of this hotel one would expect better food. The staff were all helpful. Beautifully appointed rooms. Clean bathrooms. There was a pizzeria next door and if the wind is just right, you will be smelling smoke. Other than that, it is a magical location. I though Aguas Calientes has a charm of it's own, with a market by the train station but finding a deal here is as rare as Inka gold. Some different designs from Pisac or Lima, but overpriced. I still loved this little town.

“Luxurious Base for Machu Picchu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Great food, good service, comfortable room, free Pisco Sour on arrival. The closest hotel to the trail if you are climbing up the mountain. On the Urubamba River. Also close to the buses. Of course, all of Aquas Calientes is within walking distance as well.
