We arrived on a private tour and the hotel was empty....just us 6 and a Japanese couple. The rooms dirty and stinky did not have a safety box so we took all our money at the restaurant for dinner. Was a dinner among sick cats miaowing all the time ,a bit disgusting...anyway back in the room my husband removed his money belt from his chest and left it on the little table close to his luggage.the next morning we had breakfast in the hotel but when he came up in the room not seeing his belt he thought it was already hidden among his clothes in the luggage that was already closed with a lock.We left and a couple of hours later while searching it we could not find it and straight away I remembered of having seen it on the table in the morning. The luggage has been in the car with the 8 of us ,a private guide and a driver plus the 6 of us and has never been open or unattended cause we never stopped. The guide rang and spoke to the reception but of course it has been stolen by the cleaner or someone else who got into the room.So 1500 euros were gone.....Of course we could only blame ourselves, but honesty can be found also in a poor country.....with arrogance they have closed the phone call very quickly! It was a lesson for us but would like to share this with all of you honest travellers!
