“be aware of thieves among the hotel stuff!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

We arrived on a private tour and the hotel was empty....just us 6 and a Japanese couple. The rooms dirty and stinky did not have a safety box so we took all our money at the restaurant for dinner. Was a dinner among sick cats miaowing all the time ,a bit disgusting...anyway back in the room my husband removed his money belt from his chest and left it on the little table close to his luggage.the next morning we had breakfast in the hotel but when he came up in the room not seeing his belt he thought it was already hidden among his clothes in the luggage that was already closed with a lock.We left and a couple of hours later while searching it we could not find it and straight away I remembered of having seen it on the table in the morning. The luggage has been in the car with the 8 of us ,a private guide and a driver plus the 6 of us and has never been open or unattended cause we never stopped. The guide rang and spoke to the reception but of course it has been stolen by the cleaner or someone else who got into the room.So 1500 euros were gone.....Of course we could only blame ourselves, but honesty can be found also in a poor country.....with arrogance they have closed the phone call very quickly! It was a lesson for us but would like to share this with all of you honest travellers!

“A lovely Kasbah hotel on the outskirts of town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 March 2010

To get to this hotel you need to drive over the Draa river - it then stands out magnificently on the left hand side. The grounds (and pool) are fantastic and the views of the "Hollywood" style mountain are fantastic. The room was large and cool with a small balcony. The bathroom was nothing special but functional (a flushing toilet and hot water are a luxury this far south). We had afternoon tea and breakfast beside the pool - both were satisfactory rather than something special. The hotel is in a large complex and the most notable aspect of the stay was the complete absence of any other guests - we had the whole place entirely to ourselves which was a little wierd. They had 3 waiters attending to an entirely empty restaurant. I honestly don't know how they make money as they didnt charge an awful lot for the room.

“Beautiful hotel from the outside”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2009

I stayed there only one night thankfully and basically I was disappointed by its cleanliness and the staff. When we arrived the room was full of fly's and not fully done. We could not find any staff to bring us towels for about an hour. And in general I found it very dirty. On the other hand the garden and the swimming pool was amazing, but overall dirty. I was disgusted even to sit on the chairs which also appeared very dirty.
But probably is the best hotel in Zagora.

“dessert getaway”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2008

This owner has two hotels in Zagora. This is the most exspensive one. Nice scenery and a very good swimmingpool. When we stayed at this hotel we were the only individual tourists in the whole complex. Around 17:00 the hotel is packed with tour groups and they all disapear around 08:00 the next morning. We had a private pool because of this!
We saw some cuproches but the staff was very friendly and helped us to get rit of them. We also took the camel excursion with an overnight in the dessert and we had a experience we will never forget. The restaurant wasnt really charming (because of the tour groups shouting to eachother all the time) but i can recomend the hotel next door for the food.

Overall a good pick in Zagora.

  • Liked — desert atmosphere and swimmingpool
  • Disliked — tour groups
