We just stayed here for one night before heading off to Turtle Island so we didn't have too much demands from it.
It was a nice hotel, friendly young girl in the reception and young atmosphere up in the bar. The bathroom was nicely refurbished though our room itself looked a bit old and rustic but it worked fine. Bed was okay but not much more than that.

Nak is a wonderful hotel with great Staff. Balin Resturant is one of the best i have been to and the roof top bar is amazing. And again the staff are wonderful and the cocktails are to die for!

I stayed in NAK Hotel on every trips to Sandakan. I travel to Sandakan a lot. I usually will stay in Sandakan minimum of 2 nights. On my second stay in Sandakan recently, during the Chinese New Year, I asked for a late check-out. I was told that I must check-out by 4 pm or I will be charged a full day rate. I checked out at 4 pm and paid half-day rate. I don't mind paying the half-day rate, so I asked the receptionist to extend my check-out to 5 pm. My flight is at 6 pm. The receptionist nicely declined and stated that it is their company policy that clate check-out is up to 4 pm only. I was trying my best to negotiate for 1 more hour, I failed miserably and checked out at 4 pm. If NAK hotel would have given me that additional 1 hour check-out, I would immediately book a room for my next trip to Sandakan. I was devastated. The hotel could checked my stay and my frequency. They should not be so calculative over 1 hour. In my next trip to Sandakan, NAK Hotel is definitely out of my list.

We stayed in this hotel in our way to Lankayan. The hotel is quite simple but nicely decorated. The room was clean and spacious. There is a restaurant in the roof with a terrace/lounge with wooden tables and cozy sofas, so you can have a lovely breakfast in the morning or some drinks at night. I recommend this place if you stay for one or a couple of nights in Sandakan.
