“Nice Suite”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

4 of us stayed from 26-28 Jan 2012. We stayed at the Deluxe suite for 4 persons. The resort is more popular with local tourists. The Suite had a very beautiful sea view and interior, with open air shower and bubble bath. Our unit was clean. Staff friendly and efficient. Food prices reasonable. Swimming pool dirty and water murky. Nobody used it. Public toilets and garden ground poorly maintained and not clean. Beach was generally clean but was sometimes littered with drinking bottles and rubbish. Rockfall treks (refreshing to soak out in the stream) and turtle sanctuary beach (more private and beautiful and clean) treks through the jungle were littered with bottles and food wrappers. We felt sorry and ended up collecting rubbish on our return trek to help whatever we could for the environment.

Room Tip: Book a Deluxe sea facing suite. Don't go during monsoon season like we did. The sea was too roug...

“Average resort, a simple getaway”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

1) Date of stay:
June 2011, 3D2N stay. Took a ferry down from Tg Gemok (2 hr ferry ride)

2) Room:
Standard room with basic amenities. Stayed near the pond area.
Bring along your own mosquito coils if you are sensitive to insect bites.
Quite a good view of koi fishes at your balcony.
Theres many monkeys around. So do not leave food outside your room as they tend rummage your garbage.

3) Food:
All food was provided by the resort as it is quite difficult to get food from the nearby food stall. The food stall are often out of "rice" due to the high number of tourists especially after the ferry has arrived.

4) Snorkelling trip:
You can get the resort to arrange a snorkeling trip for you. The rental for the snorkeling gear is not expensive. Lunch is provided after your snorkel.
Fishes is always hungry for food. You may want to buy bread from the shops to feed the fishes while snorkeling or on the boat. Its quite fun! You may also snorkel at the beach area as there is a protected/safe zone for swimming/snorkeling.

5) Other entertainment:
- Pool is cheap. RM3 per game. There are 2 tables available
- Souvenier shops available. It can be quite expensive.

“a perfect trip! swim with fishes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

an isolated island is within a walking distance,
you can find live corals and lotsa beautiful fishes swimming around!
this is a must do activities- snorkelling when u reach paya beach!

also there is a small rock fall behind the Tioman Paya Resort,

if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing beach holiday, this could be your best choice! :)
althought the food they serving might not be perfect but you could find some restaurants near the jetty, and their ramly burgers was perfect!

if you would like to drink a lot, you may buy alcohols from the store instead of buying it from the restaurant, its much cheaper :)!!

I had absolutely a great trip in paya beach and their staffs were quite friendly.
although the aircon was broken down several time and room was not perfectly clean (with some sands in the room)
other than that it was absolutely a great journey!

I would consider to come back again :)

Room Tip: avoid the room near to the bar/restaurants, as they play music till late night.

“Need Immediate Improvement !”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We have stayed in Tioman Beach Resort for more than 8 times and have tried all types of room that are available in this resort including the spa facilities...
My sincere comments are the services and several other things that Paya Beach Resort management should improve in order to continue survive, which, can give good example to the customers either locally or abroad !.
a) Room service - the new room located on the right of the restaurant was opened, but surprise to see that ' How can the management open such room facilities with the building not fully ready ?"..
b) The management not sensitive at all on the safety of the people surrounding, either towards the customer, staff or event the Kampung people especially kids ?.
c) Lots of wires, lying on the floor and surrounding the building, worst thing the sharp iron steel for the construction of the building, still coming out from the pillars of the said new resort, of which, can caused major accident to the people surrounding ??.
d) The room floor also was very dirty, full with sands, the bed covers need immediate change even though the blanket being changed but the bed covers never being changed. We can fill the room full with sands due to the design of the marble floor and the bed cover some already torn and never being washed. When we asked the housekeeping workers, they said no replacement for such change.. !!!
e) Coconut trees and other tress facing the beach covered the view of the room which need immediate trimming as not to block the view of the guest whom are staying in that sea front room for the new building.
f) Reception - need fully trained as to be more friendly with smiling face and more helpful. If the staff not happy how can the management promote such friendliness atmosphere ???
g) When the guest not happy with the room and ask for a room changed, the morning receptionist will give different answer by quoting it was fully booked but when we were there for few nites the said rooms was empty and dark ? When we approached the afternoon receptionist they agree that the room is available but the morning staff will say that they don't know because only Singapore Office will inform them and update them, they themselves does not know the room availability and cannot solve guest problem ?
h) What do you aspect for the guest who came all the way spending the money to have a good stay and rest but living in a nightmare and dangerous environment of room ?
i) Food serve in the restaurant for the whole 3 nites - the morning breakfast buffet was quite bad, no good food provided and all the three days, food were exactly the same. Take for e.g. porridge rice serve without having ikan bilis, no nasi lemak at all except toast, bread, egg, fried maggi ? Why can't the menu being changed for all the day, from your survey, records for sure shows that guest will normally stay for a few nites due to the location of the resort were on the island, therefore, food should be improved all the ways, this is what we call CUSTOMER SATISFACTION !!
j) The waiter at the bar / drink area ( chinese face ) look very boring face, fierce, never want to smile, on the first day we came even though we have been there for 7 times, we try to be friendly coz we bring new friends from UK but he does not show happy face to welcome us. When the order was made, he shows his sour and boring face and shows his impatient attitude to wait for the guest to choose the best food we want to have for that evening tea before we spending our money ???????????????, bear in mind what we order is our choice and what we spend is the money to pay the hotel expenses and his salary ?????.
k) Cleanliness of Paya Beach Resort - surrounding was very dirty, please play your CSR role to this island by promoting cleaning activities from your management. I suggest that you promote CSR activities with all your staff from the top management to the bottom line and invite the Kampung people to do the surrounding cleaning.

As a guest to your place either from locally or overseas abroad, we would like to view this island and see the kampung life when we have our stay over here but it was a shocked to see the dirty rubbish, dumping area were every where too. Even your resort area especially at the back was very dirty, your own staff hostel was not clean, we saw snake, monitor lizard, other while animals that can clearly be seen,.

The stream river full with unwanted electrical items thrown by the resort staff and kampung people surrounding, under the bridge to walk along the kampung from the back of your resort was full with rubbish and from here we can see your staff hostel too...!!!!

Hope Top Management of Paya Beach Resort could look into this comments so that some interest can be instilled by the guest whom had stayed in your hotel room

“Exceptional Beach Resort in Tioman Island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

I've read a few bad reviews about Paya Beach Resort before i actually went there on 9th Oct with my wife..i've stayed there for 5 nights and honestly,it was nice..come on, what do you expect for a beach resort with this kind of rates?it is not a luxurious 5 star resort..yes, it is a modest beach resort nestled in a small village..but that is the whole point - escaping away from the hustle and bustle of city life! anyway,in my point of view Paya Beach Resort is a nice quiet resort suitable for all..i found that all the staffs there are friendly and helpful..to name a few, their person in charge for F&B - Mr Ernest(if i did not mistakenly spell his name), Front Desk Mr Andika and the lovely lady at Activity Desk which i did not get her name(i only adressed her as "Kak" all the time during my stay)..they've shown me great hospitality and as a hotelier in a 5-star hotel myself, i took the liberty to dare to say that they're much better than most of the hotelier in any 5 star establishments i've known..food was nice as well, especially at Bar & Grill on sun deck by the beach..there they played good house music while you dine under moonlight or just simply enjoying a nice cold beer.. and the best part of all is,you don't have to go far for a good snorkelling trip..it is just a-stone-throw-away from the resort's beach..AND booze is cheap..me and my wife had a great vacation there and i would definitely recommend this place to anybody who plan to have a nice holiday in Tioman Island..thanks to Paya Beach Resort for an unforgettable stay..

Room Tip: if you like a quiet room, choose Aman Damai wing.. if you like sea view from your balcony, choose De...
