Stayed here as part of a seminar deal, which I didn't end up fully utilizing as I wanted to be outdoors most of the time. Hence, overpaid for a garden view room. Here are the pros and cons of the place:
Pros
- Central, which is basically two minute walk to the center of 'town' being mostly the clock tower few shops and little else.
- Decent balcony views of the gardens and surrounds.
- Amenities such as ATM, wifi and shops on site.
- Decent facade when you come in, with decent food with on site cafe. Had all meals with package deal, and food was surprisingly decent and plentiful.
-Hot showers, yay!
Cons
- The hotel is a throw back to the 80s, with ugly carpeting in the room, which doesnt feel too good on bare feet, hence slippers throughout the room.
- Shower was a trickle of water, no power showers here.
- Super thin walls, so lotsa snoring, door slamming, talking can be heard, specially if you have lots of people on the same floor.
- Mattress was too springy, with limp pillows.
- No place to hang anything except in the bathroom.
- Felt slightly icky, like this was a really tired hotel that hadn't been refurbished in awhile (except for some attempts at the reception and main areas etc)
-Service was so so, with serving staff slow and with attitudes, when you seek things out etc.
Overall, the beauty and serenity of Fraser's Hill was the only redemption for this trip, which could have been ruined by this inn. Honestly, it has to improve or lose out to nearby Puncak Inn, Smokehouse, bungalows etc. Until they clean up their act, please look elsewhere.
Hint: Remove those darn carpets and replace with wood !!
