“LAKE NAKURU LODGE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Whilst Lake Nakuru is paradise with plentiful of animals and easy access to lions, rhinos etc, it is very sad to note that Lake Nakuru Lodge, situated within the park is run down and falling apart. With visits to the Lake on a weekly basis, we had no choice but to stop at the Lodge for refreshments. We were shocked to find no customer services / welcome. The ladies toilets were filthy and run down. The access for disabled guests is limited. The tea coffee area is dirty and cups are chipped. There appears to be no quality control on their lay out. Very sad to note that warm reception, guest relations and feedback is like non existent. The bar area is filthy, noisy and takes away from the tranquility of the surroundings. This has happened on two occasions in four weeks! On the contrary the other lodge, Lion Hill Sarova, can teach them a thing or two - where service and excellence prevail.

Room Tip: Avoid this Lodge - Run down totally. If you ask for a guest book - they have a torn out dated 1998...

“Location & Location”

Lake Nakuru is perhaps one of the very few hotels in Kenya who manages a happy balance between comfortable stay and great animal viewing. This hotel , located inside the Lake Nakuru National Park is built on a hillock with the ground sloping away to the lake offering an unimpeded view to a wide and ever-changing vista. The water-hole just outside the dining room is a popular gathering place for herbivores and they keep the guests entertained with their antics throughout the day.
Some rooms have wall-to-wall glass windows, offering amazing views even during the nights. The staff are helpful and very knowledgable about the flora and fauna around and are always willing to answer all questions patiently.
Definitely worth a vist just for its atmospheric location.

“Great lodge in a stunning location”

We Stayed at Lake Nakuru Lodge in January and cannot complain about a thing. The room was clean and a good size, with stunning views. For a lodge in the middle of a game reserve the water pressure was incredible! The food was great, with a good choice for each course, especially at breakfast. Although we didn't have time to use the pool, it looked lovely and very clean. Most impressive of all were the staff. From the moment we arrived supplying us with a welcome drink to the watchmen around every corner day and night. The whole logde felt very safe and welcoming, we will definitely be back!

“Great Location....Needs A New Chef”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

The lodge is very well located, at the top of a ridge with views down to Lake Nakuru. Great surroundings with lovely rooms. A little worn but comfortable all the same. We had two rooms facing the gentle slope to the Lake and enjoyed the view immensely. Had these huge baboons just outside our balcony, and they showed scant regard to the electric fence. Lovely pool and a nice bar overlooking the lake. The staff were excellent and most obliging. A couple of negative points...Am not a fussy eater...however the chef was either having a bad day or they had an apprentice in charge. Apart from the breakfast we did not enjoy the food at all and settled for salads & soup instead. Was very surprising as I had expected better. We did pass on the feedback to the Maitre"D and hope he took us seriously. Secondly I complained to the General Manager that the souvenir shop charged me a 10% credit card service fee for a USD150 purchase. I did not have the cash and had the option of not making the purchase, however my children loved the souvenirs and I bit the bullet and paid by credit card. Unless I am missing something...this is daylight robbery. Having said that, we enjoyed the facilities of the lodge and would not hesitate to recommend to my fellow travellers...hoping that they change the chef and you have cash for the souvenir shop...

“Rooms need a facelift, Great location”

Rooms seem in desperate need of a facelift, the food was good and the facilities good. Location was nice, on the top of a hill and beautiful weather. Nicely laid out restaurant and bar.
