Excellent location you can visit most of the monument by foot. Hotel is good and clean. You receive more than what you pay for. Breakfast is also good, friendly staffs. Good for family with children. Café and restaurants nearby as well.

This modernised hotel in a building dating from at least the early part of the twentieth century is well located, In an alley off a square with numerous hotels, on the edge of the historic city. Comfortable and economical. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Small bar. Takes Visa, or cash (including dollars and euros). Adequate restaurant in the nearby square (subject to the usual cautions about the possibility of stomach ailments!).

The photos actually put me off this hotel, but I decided to take a chance, based on the good reviews and Lonely Planet. Extremely central location, beautiful building. Basic rooms and minimal service, breakfast was so-so, but what I was expecting for the rate.

So please don't be put off by the bad photos.

However, remember that most these hotels take cash only, unless you go via an agency.

We had wanted to go to the Amelia hotel, but they were full and we were given a brand new one as a substitute. After one look we decided to go and find something more to our liking, and just around the corner we found the Lyabi House. Its a beautiful old building, with an incredible 19th century dining room and verandah off a courtyard. The rooms are simple, comfortable and quiet, despite being minutes away from the central pond of Bukhara. It was a great base to explore from, easy to return if we needed a rest. The staff spoke English and were very helpful. We loved it and would highly recommend it.
