“Home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2011

I was travelling to Bukhara with my Grandma - she is almost 80 and I was looking for a place to stay somewhere close to the sights (so that we could come back for refreshments now and then) - I made a search and found several hotel, since I'm not rich - my aim was a nice, clean and cosy hotel - that was it - Lyabi House! I made an online reservation first, but then called to clarify and I could feel the hospitality of the staff even over the phone - Furqat was his name.
We arrived slightly early than the check-in time, but he helped to sort it out.

Breakfast was very very nice, it was tasty and all fresh. (besides they are included in the price of the room)

The rooms were clean and had an AC, and we just loved the layout of the hotel, you feel like you are centuries back!

There was nothing that could bother us - no noise, music, people...it was very quiet and so pleasant to come out and sit in the mornings, feeling the breeze and watching the sun rise.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who would like to go for a nice and affordable hotel - believe me, you won't regret. I've been to so many hotels around the world, and I can surely say that Lyabi House is so cute!!!

Room Tip: Make a phone call to the hotel and you can discuss

“steeped in history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2011

charming and steeped in history this ex jewish merchants house now houses a wonderful hotel located off the main historical strip of old bukhara. the rooms are pleasant with en suite facilities and overlook a lovely courtyard. Bonu, the owners daughte is delightfully welcoming and Furqat at reception is one of the most helpful people I have ever met. Breakfast is a wholesome mix of cereals, breads, fruit, vegetable & eggs cooked more ways than I can imagine. This one is highly recommended

“Perfect Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2009

The Lyabi House has an ideal location, just across the street from the beautiful central reservoir, which is surrounded by restaurants. Everything you want to see in Bukhara is within easy walking distance. It was easy to pop back to the room as needed.

My room (5) was clean and comfortable and opened onto the inner courtyard where breakfast was served. I loved eating on the "summer porch," which was as attractive as the one I saw at the Emir's Summer Palace. The breakfast selections were somewhat limited, but certainly adequate.

Service varied from fair to excellent, depending on the individual working at the front desk. My one complaint about the hotel is that the toilet in my room kept running and the young man at the front desk had to come repeatedly to stop it, but never showed me what I could do differently to avoid needing to trot out to the front desk for help.

“a boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 April 2007

Lyabi House Hotel's location cannot be bettered. it is opposite the reservoir called Lyabi Hauz. This is in the old Jewish Quarter and is very central. All the sights of tourism interest are within walking distance.
The hotel is a boutique hotel, modern rooms in an old building. The room was very comfortable, clean, warm, and nicely decorated. Breakfast is taken in the main room of the old house, and it is like being in a museum - down to the "Do Not Touch" notices on much of the porcelain displayed. I guess that too many guests have succomed to the temptation to pick up a piece to see the manufacturers mark!
Breakfast itself was adequate but not inspiring. The availability of fresh fruit and joghurt would have been a welcome addition.
As it was off season, there was no other food service available at the hotel, but at the Lyabi Hauz pool, just steps away there is a choice of restaurants.
I paid US$45/night for a single room with bath and breakfast.
