“our experience in sukhothai”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

Old City GH is a really cool place very close to the Historical Sukhothai Park. you can reach it just crossing the road. The place is nice, very well maintained and cleaned. It has differents rooms, we stayed in one with fan and bathroom inside and i have to say that even if the room was large and nice the bathroom was very bad cos it didn't have the flush...but probably was just my room...who knows. we had a great time here and we really recommend it. only one tip: you can, let them show you different rooms before pick yours. Wi fi is free and it works everywhere...even in the room!!!

Room Tip: avoid room n7

“good value and extremly convenient for historical park”

The Old City Guesthouse has different rooms, we stayed in one with air-con and it was, cheap, clean, big, en suite and though simple we had nothing to complain. The place is nice and safe, extremly convinient as it is 100 metres from entrance to Sukhothai Historical Park, opened at 6 am and I really recommend going there as early as possible to avoid crowds and the hottest part of the day.
In vicinity there is a choice of good and cheap restaurants, there is also good communication with New Sukhothai as well as with Phitosanulok.
Worth recommendation!

Room Tip: they give you list of rooms with English description and prices - easy to choose from, all good valu...

“Great value. Wifi and powerful air-con make it a great place to see sights”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

Perfect location for seeing the Old City temples. Off-road location makes for quiet nights in large rooms. Air-con was arctic and since we had the room closest to reception, wifi was also very quick. Almost comatose owner was laid-back to say the least and barely woke up to hand us the keys (quite refreshing after hard-sell tactics in other parts of Thailand). Rooms were spotlessly clean. No cable TV but not bothered after full day sight-seeing. If, like us, you're seeing the sights in the humidity of the wet season, it's the perfect location to take a short siesta in the midday sun in between cycling round temples. The new town is quite a bus-trip away and the heat can make a whole day at the temples without a break exhausting.

“Great location, great room, friendly staff...did I say Great location?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2011

This guesthouse is literally a block from the ruins main entrace. Rooms are big, clean, have a TV (no english channel), a table with chairs, aicon works great, bathroom was good with lots of hot water.
Some rooms have FREE wifi. we were assigned a room without wifi and we asked to be changed to one closer to reception (better signal) that was not a problem.
The staff is very friendly, and they give you an iced cold water upon arrival. GREAT
We came from Chiang Mai in a win tour bus that dropped us off a few steps away from entrance. There are many restaurants next to the guest house, the best one Coffee cup!
This is a great place to stay!,

Room Tip: Get a room close to the reception for better WIFI

“Excellent location and value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2011

This is located in the old city, just across the street from the ruins and the Buddha's footprint. You can walk to the market, you can walk to the ruins, it's the best location possible. It's also really, really cheap.

The rooms are actually well-equipped. You can get a room with air conditioning and with decent wifi connection, plus a private bathroom and a TV. You can also get fan rooms with share bathrooms and save a bit - you can't save much, though, because it's so cheap to begin with.

The mattresses are not particularly comfortable. The TV is old and only receives a handful of unclear Thai stations. The air conditioner is loud. You can hear the noise from other rooms. The bathroom is also very basic, with a shower hanging on the wall next to the toilet.

The staff was friendly and pleasant, giving out bottles of water each day. I wouldn't want to live here but it's a pretty great place to stay while seeing the ruins.

They made a nice little bed on the floor for our 5-year-old son, and he was happy with it.

Room Tip: Get an air conditioned room. This a hot city.
