“All show and no substance”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed in the Topland on our trip to the northern part of Thailand. The hotel was chosen by our tour guide.

From outside it looks like any other highrise building, but the lobby is quite luxurious and promises a high standard. But the rest of the hotel cannot keep this promise. The rooms are kept very simple and have seen their best years (urgently need renovation): windows do not shut, carpet/walls are dirty, bathroom is a little shabby, etc. Bed and pillows are very hard.

Staff at the reception has almost no knowledge of English; asking them questions is quite tough. Room service (once used) was ok, but food was only lukewarm.

Breakfast buffet is ok, but not refilled continuously. When there are only few free tables left, Asian guests are preferred. "Nice" view into the shopping centre next door.

Spa center is very nicely decorated but prices are exaggerated. Quality of massage though is good. We did not use the swimming pool as it looked ugly and disgusting.

“The room was nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

We had a short trip in Phitsanulok and chose this hotel cause of its location. The room we had was nice and convenient, clean. The hotel provides 4 hours free wifi per day. We only feel not so good with the restaurant that let us wait more than an hour for just simple omelet. We just realized later that they also offer buffet, but none of staffs advised us. Overall, it was a nice place to stay

“Upgraded to a dud room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

I feel a bit bad about relating our experience but for the sake of other travelers i will reveal the following. We stayed for a few days the week before this last visit in an ordinary room which had recently been renovated and everything was fine. On arrival this time we were told we had been upgraded to a 'business suite' which we were happy to accept. Wrong idea. The room was in a disgusting state. Wallpaper falling off. Chair coverings so worn you sat on dirty exposed foam rubber. Carpet filthy. Bathroom faulty. Curtains falling off tracks. Layout Just awful. As we were only staying one night we did not complain. So if you are offered an 'upgrade' best to check the room first. The room number was 1011.

Room Tip: ask to see the room first

“Average hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

I stayed here as part of a tour, so it wasn't a hotel that I would have picked if I had the choice. The location is decent since it's attached to a shopping center which was very convenient. The room was big and clean. They have a spa in the hotel where you can get massages, but were pricey compared to the massage places across the street. I agree that the hotel is very dated and needs a renovation.

“Good hotel in good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

Hotel is a little dated in its room decor as others have mentioned on other reviews, but non the less a fine place to stay, hotel is attached to a shopping centre so if you are there to shop it is ideal, the hotel has nice outdoor pool which was very quiet, restaurant is excellent with a good choice of foods at each meal time, staff where very friendly and helpful.
