“Need refurbishment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

My family and I a total of 5 adults, 2 kids and 2 babies stayed at Aleenta for 7 days 6 nights during the Chinese New Year Holiday. I chosed Aleenta because of all the wonderful reviews about Aleenta. Let me quickly share with you my stay at Aleenta.

1. Arrival - I booked the airport transfer with Aleenta and they are on time to pick us up. Luxury van and welcome drink is ready when we arrived at our 3 bedrooms beach front villa. I was not told that the van can't fit in our luggage so they called an outside taxi to carry our luggage to the villa and charge us THB1000. It's not about the money issue but I would be comfortable if they advised me earlier and get our permission for doing this. So ended up I have to pay extra THB1000. And my luggage was broken when I saw it. Who's reponsible for it? Mong the room division manager met me and asked me to claim from the Malaysia airlines. But it wasn't the airlines fault so how am I going to do this? He went to fill up the form and done all the paperwork for me to claim from the airlines. That's all he can do for us.

2. If you have elderly traveling with you, make sure you check with them the layout of the room. It's not advisable to let elder to walk up and down from the staircase to their room. Moreover, the bathroom is located outside the room. So it does create inconveniences. And for the price we pay, I strongly do not feel is worth for the room upstairs. It's so much smaller compare to those at the ground floor.

3. Housekeeping - they are trying their very best to serve you. Just a few hiccups when we request for tooth brushes and it took them a day to bring them to us.

4. Villa - the beachfront villa need refurbishment as some of the utensils at the bathroom are old. You can see they need to renovate them to make it look luxury and justify for the price. It's different from the photos we see from the website. Some of the switches are not working. You need to test to find out which is working.

5. F&B - Breakfast is awesome. We look forward to it every morning. The chef is so good at preparing baby food that even my daughter likes the baby food too!

6. Beach - Clean and secluded. If you are traveling with kids, beachfront villa is a good choice. The kids can swim and go to the beach to play and back to the pool again. Since is secluded and private, so we get to enjoy the beach ourselves. That's pretty cool!

Overall, this is an average hotel. in terms of value of money, I personally feel that Maldives has better choice and gives a better value of money. The hotel is not as luxury as it is advertised so it was a bit of disappointment. But the people at Aleenta had tried their best to make it up. So we still have a pleasant stay at Aleenta Phuket.

Cheers!

Dear guest,

Greetings form Aleenta!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of you stay on Tripadvisor.

Your opinion is very valuable in helping us to maintain a high level of service and in ensuring that guests expectations are met.

I am sorry if there was some sort of miscommunication as far as the transportation is concerned but we did not anticipate such amount of luggage, we have discussed this internally so that this situation does not repeat itself in the future. I am glad that our staff helped you to fill out the airline claim form.

The three bedrooms of the Villa are indeed not identical, two of them on the ground floor facing the sea, the third one on the first floor with ocean view. The concept of Aleenta "Outside Living in" does not suit every taste but has received many praise form the international press and form our customers who come to Thailand to enjoy a different lifestyle......I however agree with you that the third bedroom isn't the best choice for an elderly person but the 2 bedrooms on the ground floor are.

The maintenance of the hotel extremely important to us in order to keep our room to the highest level of standards and as we take every comment very seriously I have blocked the villa for a couple of days to ensure that our maintenance team as the time to inspect it throughout.

Once again I am sorry that your experience at Aleenta did not live up to your expectations but glad to read that you had a pleasant stay overall and that our staff were able to assist you professionally . Please do not hesitate to contact me if i can be of any help.

Best Regards

“stunning resort on the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Aleenta has to be one of the best options in Phuket. It is a beautifully designed boutique hotel with villas ranging from 1 bedroom to 2 bedroom and large 3 bedrooms on the beach. Beautifully maintained, our second visit confirmed this as amongst the best along with Banyan Tree and Pavilions. Aleenta is way north, a good 25 minutes from the airport - so it is a little isolated. But you are right on a beautiful beach - not shared with any other hotel. Dinner options in the hotel are excellent, and for a change of scenery, the excellent JW Marriott is a short 10 minute drive/taxi away. The smaller villas are a little close together - the beach 3 bedder are amazing with a private pool right on the beach; though not private of course. The 2 bedroom appartments are our pick - even though we only use 1 bedroom. The upper floor 2 bedders are more private than the 1st floor ones. Massive space is a luxury, and the private pools are large. A great option is to stay here for a few nights, with a few nights closer to the action at say Pavilions or Banyan Tree.

I stayed here in Dec 2011. I had come for my brother's engagement party.. This is undoubtedly the best resort i've been so far, not just in terms of infrastructure but also services.. The food n beverage service personnel were very friendly and helpful..It is a great place for destination wedding or other functions. Everything about the place is quintessential. The villas at the beach are the ideal setting and value for money. However it is far from Patong(45mins) but they have transport arrangements.. Come here if you want to unwind and engage in pure luxury.

Room Tip: Beach Villas are ideal

“A wonderful break for couples!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Firstly, it is not on Phuket island but that is not a big problem if you intend to only lounge in the resort and maybe make one or possibly two trips into town for shopping and sightseeing. Taxis are readily available just outside the entrance and will cost sightly less than the hotel transport. Tip: Bargain with the taxi driver if you intend to hop around Phuket.

Upon arriving buy a coupon for the normal taxis to the resort. We did not have any problems getting there.

Check in was quick. We were infact shown a one bed pool residence but ended up preferring the pool villas. Although you'd get a view of the ocean, the residences are actually apartments in a row of blocks. We had in mind a typical villa with a pool, a view would be a bonus.

The pool villas a re located just below a shared swimming pool for the ocean view lofts. A certain level of privacy is lost due to the fact that people staying in the lofts, when they swim up against their pool wall could look down onto our villa. So beware! The resort tries to alleviate this problem with some landscaping but it does not work 100%. I'll try to post a picture to show you what I mean.

The Villa is great. Two cubes joined together by a wooden walkway that has two ingeniously made floor level wooden sundeck chairs! Brilliant! You enter through the "living area" then proceed onto the walkway into the "bedroom". The decor and amenities are really good. We loved the simple things like the wooden frog you'd leave outside as a "Do Not Disturb" sign.

We loved the outdoor jacuzzi tub just next to the pool. The idea of having an outdoor area to shower, bathe and swim is great!

Most of all the villa walls are all sliding glass doors and really opens up to the outside to let that sea breeze in whenever you want.

Another unique feature this resort has is the way breakfast is served. Not your typical buffet styled hotel breakfast but made to other. Along with the choice of mains (western and eastern fares) they have a tower of hor dourves along with real fresh juices. Pictures provided.

We'd definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a villa stay by the beach!

Room Tip: Pool Villa 201 has no direct beach access but its only less than 50 meters away.

Dear Guest,

Greetings from Aleenta!

Thank you for taking the time to post a detailed review of your stay on TripAdvisor it is very much appreciated.

We are glad to see that you enjoyed your time at the resort and that you took advantage of the room concept "outside living in" but opening up all the sliding door to let the sea breeze refresh your villa.
I have taken note of your comment in regards to the loss of privacy due to the vegetation not being sufficient, we are currently adding more plants to fix this issue, thank you for bringing this to my attention.

As you mentioned Aleenta's signature breakfast is very unique in a sense that a mini buffet is brought to your table and you also have the option to order anything that you want from the "a la carte" menu.

We hope to welcome you back at Aleenta in the near future.

Best Regards

“An unforgettable experience - the MOST relaxing hotel stay. EVER.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed at Aleenta in March 2011 for a week and it was one of the best hotel stays i have ever had.

From the moment we got picked up from a hotel car at the airport, we were in love with this hotel experience. Aleenta is like entering a very calm and relaxed slice of paradise. Attentive staff take care of every need from the moment you walk in, your bags are shuffled away and replaced with cooling tea and face towels, and there is a sense of floating to our beachside room.

The location cannot be beat – secluded from the tourist traps of Phuket it is just A short drive from the airport (get the hotel car, an air-conditioned BMW – absolutely worth it)

There is a good mix of rooms – from beach view rooms with a balcony to palatial apartments equipped with private pools and living spaces all the mod cons. We were lucky enough to have a beachfront villa with a shared private pool. With glass doors allowing the whole villa to be opened up, the beauty of watching the sun set while sitting in your own pool drinking a cocktail is simply wonderful.

The rooms are so good we didn’t want to leave, so we ate room service each night. The kitchen provided a great mix of classic thai dishes. The room service staff were lovely, concerned one evening when we ordered a late dinner as they were wondering if everything was ok.

Happy hour at the bar was a little quiet, probably due to other guests being similarly lazy and getting their drinks delivered to the pool/beach/bedside. The bar staff were great – we really got nothing but fantastic service from all the staff the entire time of our trip.

The resort has a scheduled list of activities for those who are after some entertainment. We liked taking the bikes out, and other friends who have stayed have highly recommended the cooking class which takes you out to a local market to source all the ingredients, and then help you cook them in your own room.

In terms of value for money, i know there are lots of cheap places to stay in Thailand. However, i am a firm believer of paying normal Aussie prices in Thailand to get the most incredible hotel experiences. The beachfront rooms are incredible and private - i could never afford a place like this on a european beach. The rooms away from the beach are also super cheap but have higher views and perhaps no private pool, but still an amazing room. It is definitely worth the money.

After a few days at Aleenta, you really can’t remember how long you have been there for. It is just one long, happy day full of sunshine, cocktails, pad thai and relaxation. I really cannot recommend this place enough. I will definitely go back.
