My huband and I stumbled across Thapai Spa Camping and loved it. "Camping" is a very loose term here, as there are no tents, only bungalows. The best part is the hot springs. They have one large hot spring pool (with cold plunge) and a few other, more private pools around the grounds.
When we were having dinner at the restaurant, we booked Thai massages for later that evening and were surprized when our waitress turned out to be our masseuse. For Thailand and for the quality of the massage (good, but not great), it was expensive, but the private spa room made up for it. Beautifully lit with candles, a private tub and rose petals. Heaven!
If you stay in town, you should consider coming here just for the hot springs as I believe they offer a day fee.
The grounds are beautiful, overlooking a river with nice stone paths meandering around the buildings. I would recommend paying more for a bungalow on stilts overlooking the river. We stayed in a room in a lodge-type structure that was small and dark. The bathrooms use the mineral water, so they have plenty of mineral deposits and smell bad.
The only drawback is that it is out of town, so if you don't have your own transportation you are kind of stuck (although I think they have a van service). You can definitely find cheaper places, but if you are looking for a step-up, I would highly recommend this place. It was a delightful find for us.
