“Beautiful views and pretty rooms, pity about the restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed at the hotel in January 2012 during which there was a 50% discount and we only paid 1,200 baht for a superior room with sea views.

The views are stunning and the lay-out of the hotel is beautiful. The rooms are very pretty and overall the resort is chic and spotlessly clean. The pool is very nice. More sunbeds and better umbrellas (that block out the sun) would be fantastic.

For 1,200 baht it was an absolute deal compared to the basic bungalows on Sairee Beach that are similarly priced!!!!! The breakfast is a little disappointing, it is generous but quality is not the higest concern: meats look like it was dried up and left out for hours, fruit/cereal/bread good. Coffee was one of the worst ever tasted!!!!!!!!

Things to be aware of: by the pool it is not peaceful during the day because of the loud noise coming from the long tail boats and diving boats in the sea !!!!!! At night it is close to impossiible to walk anywhere as there is no street lighting. The hotel will provide a taxi service for 100 baht per person one way - expensive for Thailand. The restaurant is terrible - completely overpriced for what it is. We had 3 meals there: 1 salad at lunch time (very minimalist style), 1 dinner meal which was satisfactory (meals were not given at the same time but food was relatively tasty) and 1 lunch time noodle dishes which were terrible, so bad that we had to send one dish back. Our meals were served within 10 mins of eachother so when one was finished, the other person was starting.....???!!!!!!!! The restaurant staff speak minimal English and I seriously don´t think there is a proper chef at the hotel!!!!!!!

I would recommend the hotel (not at full price, but at 75% of full price) but the restaurant food is pretty awful and it is such a pity as it has stunning views and could be converted into a lovely social/dining hub.

“Great place to relax and low key”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

It is a great place to relax. Just a 5 minute bike ride away from the beach . The staff is super laid back, if you are not a little DYI you might take this as rudeness. The room we had was garden villa 2 . The sink got clogged up , but other than that. Pretty good room.

Scooter ride is a paved road.

If you are looking to be serviced on hand and foot, you will need to pay twice the amount of this place to get that type of service. If you are travel experienced in SE Asia , you will feel good about this place. it is up on the hill and catches great breezes in their lobby.

Staff is nice but be prepared to speak slow and clearly. But very pleasant people.

If you are looking for newer rooms , but lower price, you will need to trek to the other side of the island , for example Moneray resort At Tanone bay. Be prepared for advanced scooter riding. Spend 200 baht for the newer, bigger knobby tirered scooter. Super steep, rutted road, some washed out. Combination of super dusty sand , and carved out ditches from water run off. Have fun!

Room Tip: If you are not into climbing stairs , this place is not for you.

“Back after 5 years, still a great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I stayed here in 2007, and again in december of 2011. Lets take the bad things first and end with the good. Firstly, you have to like stairs to stay here, and you will probably be swimming mostly in the pool, as the nearby beach (due to ocean currents) is quite littered. There could be more sunbeds at the pool. And now the good things: the rooms (butique in our case) are clean, stylish and generally just really nice. The pool is clean, well maintained, and the view from there is priceless. The food is good, both breakfast and dinner, and they serve my favorite dish, pad see eew. The gardener is a miracle worker, and the whole resort is a lush jungle. The animal life at the resort itself is impressive. In the grounds we saw landcrabs, fruitbats, praying mantis, see-eagles, and giant barking gecko. The reception staff during our stay spoke fluent english, and were really really helpful. If you brave the rubbish at the beach and swimm south or north, there is actually a nice reef with a lot of see life. From our balcony (on the day we left) we saw whalesharks and loads of dolphins on this reef. If you walk in, you cam ask for a discount and get quite a decent one. I don't know if this goes for reservations too.

“Good location and resort, but too many downfalls”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

We liked the privacy of our room and the private layout of the rooms throughout the resort. We liked the pool area and views from around the resort.
But the negatives were the restaurant and breakfast was really poor quality, there were a lot of creepy crawlies in our room so you need to be a real nature lover to not be bothered by it, the staff spoke very little English which was difficult to communicate and they often got our breakfast requests wrong, and you need to be very fit to stay at this resort, as most of the rooms had between 100-200 steps up the mountain between the rooms and the Reception/Pool/Restaurant area.
The resort has a lot of potential, but the negatives would not encourage me to stay there next time I was in Koh Tao

“Will NOT return - very strange place!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

It's not bad.. and not good - but definitely over priced. The best way to describe it is I think it would have been really nice 20 years ago, but it's a shame they haven't touched it since then. The staff were nice enough and the room amenities fine, but the whole separate bathroom to bedroom thing is very odd. You have to walk outside your room - be clearly visible to the rest of the resort - to use the loo. All in all, just a very strange experience.

Room Tip: There is a guy who rents scooters up the little hill at a place called
