“Lovely place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

My friend and I stayed here this month and were very impressed with what we encountered! Our bungalow was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and the food in the restaurant was great. Location is good as it's easily walking distance for most people to Thongsala and is right on the beach. It is far enough away from the craziness of the Full Moon Party, but still only about 20 mins by taxi to Haad Rin.

“One of the better place in Phangan”

The room was basic but very clean and all with A.C., the staffs were enthusiastic helpful. We were surprised that we didn't have any bug in our room despite been right on the beach and surrounded by trees and plants. Even though there were only two bungalows occupied during our stay there, the staffs still tirelessly swiped the entire stretch of beach and the cleaned the whole place early in the morning. The food were cheap and surprisingly very tasty, though not in big portion as we used to in the states. The beach was very quite and peaceful. We walked down the entire stretch of the beach, other bungalow resorts are quite run down and beach quite dirty with trash, none were as well maintained or clean as Sabai. The biggest problem we have here is that the sea water is very shallow and heat up by the sun and have lots of sea weed growth, makes it unideal to swim. In fact, the sea temperature is hotter than on land, it felt like sitting in a jacuzzi which doesn't relieve the scorching sun. You are at the mercy of mother nature, nothing the resort can do.

Room Tip: Only clay bungalows have TV.

“Quite, clean and relaxing place to stay”

Stayed here for four nights after the Full Moon Party. Upon arrival we were greeted by staff who helped us with our luggage to our room - the garden/sea view room.

The room had an efficient air-conditioning unit and hot water. The bins are emptied and room tidied every other day.

The resort is run by a Thai family who are all very welcoming. Only two staff speak good English but they are virtually always available. Everything can be paid for at the end of your stay - accommodation, food, drink, bike hire. You help yourself to drinks out of the fridge. The Thai food was all fantastic, and most of the western dishes were reasonably good.

We hired a moped from the resort for 300 baht per day (I think you can get smaller ones for 200 baht per day). These are the easiest way to get around the Island.

The guests were a variety of European families including English/French/German/Spanish. Whilst the resort is very relaxing and laid back, there were a lot of children around during our stay. This was not a problem as we asked to have our meals on our balcony. We ordered our food from the restaurant and they would bring it over to us. If you've got children then this would be a great place to stay.

If you're looking for a place to stay close to Haad Rin, there are many places a lot closer. It's a 20 minute taxi ride from this resort at around 150 baht.

“A beautiful quiet place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

My girlfriend and I stayed here in Feb 2010 during our RTWT. We stayed in a garden view bungalow. The accomodation was very nice although we did have some issues with huge ants every night. They would just appear from no where and run around! The bungalow itself was very big and the bathroom was fine.

We ate at the resort every night as well, the food was really good.

There is no pool but with the beach 10 steps away there isnt a need for one either...

We also hired a bike from the reort for 2 days which I would really recommend as without one you just wont get to see the island at all, it was 200 baht a day. You can easily get all the way around the island in one day on the bikes, just be careful and make sure you wear a helmet! you dont want to get a Thai tattoo! Take a trip to Haad Rin and make sure you go to the sunset bar literally about 5 mins walk away its awesome!

“Great value, awesome location, lovely service”

A Lovely Surprise:
it is about 5min north of Thongsala and we did not expect too much and booked this place for an overnight stay before moving on to Bottle Beach.

It turned out to be a great surprise. The bungalows were new, spotless clean and beautifully done. They lined along the beach with lovely sunset views from the porch. The beach, though not much sand left on high tide, was very tranquil and clean.

The food in the restaurant was excellent and we had by far the most extensive breakfast selection for a bungalow resort in this price category. The service was very fast and very friendly. We definitely can recommend Sabai to anyone who is not necessarily looking for a huge white sand beach, but a quiet and beautiful resort. It is very well accessible and the motorbikes rent for 200 Baht / day.
