Cookie's Salad Resort is a great place for the midrange budget, or the backpacker looking to splurge. Haad Salad is paradise: an intimate cove of crystal clear water and soft powdery white sand. Because it is a cove, there are no waves.

Cookies is perched overlooking the beach. Seems to attract a mix of travellers, from singles to couples to families with small kids. I think I stayed at the "oversea view wooden hotel" room and it huge: spacious, airy, cool, lots of natural light, with its own balcony space and hammock. Balcony was so big, I could do yoga on it overlooking to water.

Breakfast is included and it's good. Food at restaurant is hit and miss, a bit pricey but you'll find that the food at Haad Salad a bit more expensive because you need transport to go elsewhere.

A few small drawbacks: There was no safe in my room. Cookies is on the end of the beach that is rocky and isn't nice, but you literally just have to walk 100 m down to get to the white sand. If you are walking back from a bar/restaurant on the beach at night you'll get accompanied by barking stray dogs. It is pretty terrifying at first but once they approach and see you, they stop barking and just happily tag along. Also, I noticed that because it is a sheltered cove (and therefore not breezy), there were a lot of mossies at night.

But also a few perks: beach towels, snorkel rentals, beach rinse off shower, free pick up from the pier.

I did suss out cheaper options on the beach but you definitely get what you pay for. And likewise, there were many other hotels and bungalows that were charging a lot and were completely full for weeks.

Great stay, being a family business this probably helped alot, staff always "truly" friendly and helpfull. Salad beach is known to be one of the best on the island. For snokelers 200meters after swimming or walking 1m to 1.5m lagoon there is a nice coral reef... (30m past the white flag) saw blue spotted ray, a few pufferfish, a barracuda et al.

Stayed 10 nights in Cookies in December. Although the weather was not perfect, everything else was. The staff in the restaurant was so friendly and helpful, thank you so much Yan and the others! :)
We got possibly one of the best cottages, just next to the beach but still a bit elevated which meant a beautiful panorama of the beach and also not too much climbing wherever we went. The cottage had a huge room and big bathroom and also a big terrace with lovely view as I said.
The hotel has a lovely pool too with sunbeds and even a slide for kids, and there was also a small catamaran which we didn't see to be used but I guess it was due to the windy conditions.
During our stay we wanted to check all the different restaurants on the beach but in the end we ended up spending every evening in Cookies restaurant, since it had nice food, great choice of dishes, a lovely view to the beach, cosy seats, nice cocktails, cheap prices, the friendly staff, good music and a biliard table as a bonus - also two book shelves in case you finished all the books you took to your holiday. All in all we had a wonderful time, no complaints at all (except the not so perfect weather but who to blame.... :)) and we would definitely go back or advise it to others.
