We were surprised to discover that the hotel we had originally booked on Koh Lanta did not allow children, even though we told them we had one and they allowed us to make a reservation, they contacted us the DAY before we left to tell us that they had cancelled our reservation. We had very little time to find a new place to stay. I am so glad we booked this place. Because it was Chinese New Year, so many hotels were completely booked. We were told we would have to move around a couple times, but that we were welcome to stay. Our first night we stayed in a very basic room in the hotel. Not impressive, but clean and it had a refrigerator, hot water, clean sheets...all we truly needed. Then we got to move to a bungalow. This had a bathtub, a hammock on the front porch and a sitting area. The last two days of our trip we moved back to the hotel, this time to a room that had a porch and looked over the ocean. Each room/bungalow was comfortable, clean and had hot water. The staff was incredibly kind and very helpful. Ocean View is very child-friendly and has a shallow baby pool, toys on the beach and the staff at the restaurant even helped us by cooking/steaming some food specially.
The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. We ate most meals at the restaurant on site because the food was fantastic and it was hard to find better food at the other places we tried. They have thatched-roof huts to eat under and seats right on the beach. The drinks and food are very reasonable and quite delicious. It was the best green curry we had our entire time in Thailand.
I highly recommend this place for a family-friendly, reasonably priced place to stay. It's not a five-star hotel so Ic an't give it five stars, but we loved our time there and would absolutely return the next time we come to Koh Lanta.
