10 of us stayed in 4 villas here for 5 days over Xmas 2011 - this place was the highlight of my 23 day trip. Everything you need is on tap.... including beachbed service from the bar. The food was good but there were also other places within walking distance serving varied menus - one is 100 yards to the left along the beach where we ate for Xmas dinner.

The rooms catered for our needs, very comfortable beds and the staff on site were very attentive.... and particularly intrigued by our evening games!

All in all a top venue with a beach on your doorstep and no need to leave the resort if you want a few days of pure chilling.

Just needs a pool to improve it.

Stayed here for 5 nights early February following 3 nights in Bangkok. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice of hotel .This is a small resort set in beautiful gardens with attractive bungalows each with it's own veranda and outside seating -perfect place to read a book and enjoy a drink in the evenings .

Great location.The bar and restaurant are right on the beach and yet the local shops restaurants and bars are only a few minutes walk.The beach was lovely and quite long with plenty of room to find a quiet spot even though this was pretty much still high season.


We were delighted with our accommodation , a detached bungalow near the entrance to the resort.The Unit was not large but perfectly adequate - our only tiny negative relates to the bathroom which although perfectly clean is in need of some modernisation.


Breakfast was included in our rate and provided a good choice and was cooked to order.We also took a couple of lunches and dinners in the restaurant There is a good choice of food and we thought the quality of food and service was to a very good standard.

The bar , restaurant and indeed all the staff were absolutely charming with a great sense of fun.
We very much enjoyed Koh Lanta generally and Castaway in particular .We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and we are hoping to return next year.

We stayed here in January in adjoining Tropical Daze rooms which was great. Plenty of space and the rooms are really lovely. The resort itself has beautifully maintained gardens, which gives it such a pleasant relaxed feel. It's lovely just sitting on the veranda amongst the gardens.
We ate at the restaurant a couple of times during our stay (as well as breakfasts) and the food was great quality with plenty of variety. The staff are lovely, and there were plenty of them who spoke enough english that there were never any issues they couldn't help with.
As mentioned by some, the beach area directly out front of the resort isn't the greatest, but this wouldn't stop us from staying here again, as it's only a really short walk to find a pleasant spot on the beach. And its location as far as restaurants and shops on the street behind is really good.
A really lovely place to stay, and this was a great and relaxing end to our holiday.

Loved our beachfront location in the beautifully landscaped Lanta Castaway. Beachcomber bungalow is large and airy - very comfortable with lounge area, flat screen TV, fridge & great views towards the sea. Whole resort has been tastefully designed in Thai style  by owners Darin & Nit with much attention to detail. They are always around with time to talk with their guests - gracious hosts.
Food is freshly prepared, very good & great value and drink prices are reasonable. Menu is Thai, Tex Mex & Western with fresh fish & steak bbq at weekends. Great Mojito & fresh fruit smoothies & shakes. Staff are lovely & many have good English.
Beach is beautiful & uncrowded. Some rocks but easy to avoid them when swimming.
Reasonable priced massages available in beachfront gazebo.
Many birds and butterflies in the beautifully maintained gardens.
Yes, there was loud music from a neighbouring resort one night of our 7 night stay but Darin said, had he been aware of it he would have called the police but it didn't happen again.
Definitely recommend! Wouldn't stay anywhere else on Ko Lanta!
