We stayed at this hotel before reading any reviews. We arrived by ferry to Lanta and we wanted to stay in the Kantiang Bay area. We met a guy at the dock with a sign for Kantiang Bay Resort and agreed on a price of 800 Baht which included a free ride to the hotel but no breakfast. We stayed upstairs in one of the newer buildings and not in the cheaper huts. The room was clean, bright and large with a queen and a twin bed. Overall very quiet and private. I saw a monkey in the tree right outside of our room one morning There is some noise from the Why Not Bar at night but it ended by 11PM and it was not so loud in our room if the windows were closed.
The location is perfect. Beautiful uncrowded beach.
The service was good. No complaints. It is not the Ritz Carlton but if we wanted a scooter or a taxi or a ferry reservation or a boat tour it was handled in a prompt and friendly manner.
The Why Not Bar and the restaurant at the resort both have good service and are reasonably priced. There is another bar / restaurant on the hill overlooking the beach which has excellent views. It is great for a sunset cocktail. You can walk to it in 5 minutes. I don't remember the name but you will see alot of stairs leading from the beach up to the restaurant.
I am not sure why this place has so many bad reviews. If I had read them I most likely would not have stayed here. I think many of the reviewers were staying in the huts and not one of the newer buildings.
