“Brilliant escape”

We love this place. Having spent eight days here in May 2009 with my husband we loved it soo much we decided to bring our daughters aged 13 and 15 and 71 yr old mother on another 10 day holiday this summer. Again we were blown away. Our stay was over the Christmas period and we experienced the same incredible hospitality and kindness as we had two years previously. The owners remembered us and our fellow guests - many of whom were also on their return visit. The staff are wonderful and go the extra mile to make sure you have a great stay. As the name suggests it can be a hideaway holiday if you want it to be but if you like to socialize at the bar and restaurant then it's great for this too. The food was excellent and the wine selection is really good - we found it tricky to get good wine in Thailand but the owners at La Laanta have put a lot of effort into delivering what their guests are looking for. Breakfasts were consistently excellent with fresh homemade croissants and bread, fresh fruit, and the traditional cooked extras too - all to be enjoyed under the watchful gaze of the family of local grey monkeys in nearby trees. If you are after a holiday that leave you wanting to return again then I would recommend booking in for at least a week and bring your friends and family with you. The facilities are great, clean, cared for and comfortable- it's not one of those 5 star resorts that could be anywhere in the world - it's La Laanta and holds a charm all of it's own. The road has been concreted so hiring a bike from the office makes the rest of the island easily accessible. But you can always catch a ride into the main town (Saladan) on one of the taxis going to meet other guests. After having stayed on other Thai Islands we can honestly say that this is the one place we look forward to returning to. We had fabulous evenings around the bar with other guests, and owners. Just get there and experience it for yourself - It's a brilliant escape and we can't wait to get back for another holiday.

“Perfect Vision of a Holiday..... Can't Wait to Make it Back!”

Everything you could ask for in a holiday. Curtious, fun, and friendly staff, clean, quite, and lovely private bungalows, an amazing pool, pristine beach with the best sun sets I saw in Thailand, and relaxing massage services in the shade along the beach, and delicious restaurant on the sand with a excellent bar seved by a friendly owner/host. We could have asked for anything more and I can't wait to go back. This resort is an excellent deal even during high season for the amazing experience they provide in this pristine and removed location free of masses of tourists.

The roads were not am issue as the government extended the main road all the way to the turn off for the beach/resort. We were able to easy get to and from our planned activities which ease which included elephat rides and a jungle treck. Realistically we had everything we needed at the resort. My wife and I we kayakign and played beach volleyball with the friendly staff every evening at sunset. Our day trips were all arranged by the staff and went off without a hitch. We also had amazing Thai massages on the beach under the cool shady canopies of amazing trees. The pool is first class and the resort has chairs and umbrellas along the beach perfect for relaxing.

We had no issues with our bill or,how the staff tracked what we charged to our room. The bill was well organized and even excluded some drinks we had shared with the owner. Everything we ate and drank was very affordable. It was great not having to worry about carrying cash at all for this part of our trip.

Paradise.... I wish I never left

Book Early!!! The resort fills up way in advance

“Best place ever”

I love this place and the people who run it. Go there is all I can say, but not when I am trying to re book it for the 4 th time please. (and I never go back to the same place!) I like a perfect deserted beach 1 mile long that is backed by jungle and looks over the prefect sunset every night, food excellent, staff better than exceptional, and rooms that do flashbacking to an exceptional high standard. My family wish that we were still there. If I could have a garage for my 1965 Mustang I would live there.

Room Tip: Please do not book room 301, That is where we will re book.

“An Amazing Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We spent 5 nights here over New Years and had such an amazing time.

What makes this place in our opinion, is the staff and the atmosphere they help create. Nothing is too much but is carried out in a subtle, not overbearing way.....it's just done for you. Service at all times was perfect - they make an effort to remember your names which is a lovely personal touch. You tell them your room number once at the bar and restaurant when you arrive, and you won't be asked for it again! Free drinks were offered at times during our stay, on some nights they'll come round with traditional Thai desserts etc for you to try, you really are treated well!

The food was some of the best we ate during our 3 week trip and reasonably priced, along with the drinks.

The resort is situated on a lovely quiet beach with a stunning green forest background. There is another resort at the far end, but there were days where they'd be a dozen or so people on the whole stretch of beach- perfect!

The rooms were lovely and rustic - again there is nothing OTT about this place, it's simple but serves all your needs. Lovely large bed, TV and DVD with a large dvd library available, large bathroom etc.

Having only been back a couple of weeks I am already desperate to have the opportunity to return.........I can't rate it highly enough.

“Just Wonderful”

We stayed at LaLaanta Hideaway towards the start of our 3 week island hopping trip, after an initial ‘wind down’ in Railay, and I have to say this was probably the best place we stayed at. It is a bit of a trek from the port, but that’s why it’s so special, not many people come down this far, and the beach at the front of the resort is superb. About a quarter of a mile of beautiful golden sand, with only a couple of restauarants with some low-key accommodation. I was in the sea one day and counted less that 20 people on the whole beach (November). And the sunsets here are spectacular, which at times we enjoyed whilst still in the sea. Anyway, back to the resort – fabulous landscaped grounds, superb pool, really attractive thatched bungalows. The bungalows inside have a raised area with a really comfy bed, lovely bathroom and there is a seating area with a tv and dvd player – it was quite nice to stay in one night watching a dvd – free from reception. The food we had here was really good, and breakfast was the best of the holiday. We both had Thai massages near the beach and they were excellent and good value for money. I also have to mention that the staff were really friendly, and we met Patrick (one of the co-owners) who was a real laugh. Come here soon though – the place was becoming more accessible as they were paving the final stretch of road to the nearby nature reserve.
