Beautiful location to spend time specially with life partner. nice siteseeing always in front of your eyes. v.good experience with clouds & scenery. still more places for improvement on service. Food quality really good most of the time but just ok sometimes. Good place to restay and recommend to freinds. Plants and flowers are very beautifull. People are best here (villa manager team) 100% privacy and good access to key areas. Thank you.

The hotel has a great website. Photos shown on the website are shot at the location. After a great deal of research I had booked this hotel for my 6th wedding anniversary. The hotel requested me to fill a form to check availability. They would not take the booking on the phone, which is ridiculous especially for a busy business woman. On receipt of the booking, they confirmed availability subject to payment of 50% advance. We confirmed the booking from 28.04.2009 to 30.04.2009. On review of the website we found that the check-in was at 12.00 noon and check out was at 10.00 a.m. Hence, for paying for a day of 24 hours, you can only stay for 22 hours. As i had a flight at 8.40 from Madurai I would be required to stay in the hotel till 04.00 p.m. and hence 10.00 a.m. check out was highly impossible. I checked with the hotel whether they would allow a extended check out. They refused. Mind you, it was only begining of the season. Though it was a ridiculous rule, we booked for three nights (28,29 and 30) though we would not stay beyond a few hours on 30.04.2009. When we reached Kodai the welcome was cordial and even the food was good. But to our dismay we found that our room had no valley view and was a few yards away from the road. The constant plying of the vehicles and honking was a dampener, especially in the evening. To add to our misery a meeting had been fixed on 30th morning and hence I had to leave on 29th evening at 4.00 p.m. I requested the hotel to cancel the booking for 30, ie., one day. The hotel blankly refused and billed me for 3 nights though i had used the hotel only for 1 1/2 day. The attitude of the hotel is to squeeze the holidayers and is very money minded. Even a room heater had to booked four hours in advance. The hotel is in a great location but it does not have a human touch to the service it provides. It is a small place with a few employees but the ambience is missing. I will not go back to this hotel for the unbusiness like attitude that they have and the worst out check out rules.

I Had read all the reviews before booking this retreat, some of the adverse reviews had me worried, but I took a chance & I am glad I did, it is the most amasing place I have ever stayed, they do keep track of the reviews & have addressed them, regarding the hard matress that was in the review they are all new soft ones now, the staff are the best, service with a smile & never expecting to be tipped, thats somthing I have never seen elsewere, Ofcourse the view from the lawn is literally breath taking & keeping changing with the time of the day and you never get enough of it, I was there with my wife, Father in law & two daughters, booked 2 Standard rooms @ Rs 1688/- per room per day, worth every penny, had Break fasts only & it was great too.

We stayed at Villa Retreat for four nights. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the center of town, but still very quiet. The place overlooks the entire valley. The view is magnificent. It's one of the nicest spots in Kodaikanal. The rates are a bit pricey. Nevertheless, the location is superb. The room we had was spacious and comfortable. Food served is okay; eating breakfast in the garden with its incredible view is a marvellous way to start the day. Staff is friendly and tries to be helpful. Lack of internet access is a shortcoming. Despite the few shortcomings, would recommend Villa Retreat highly.
