“Quiet & Relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We were booked into this hotel through Intrepid Travel on the Northern India Unplugged Tour. It was nice to be there for 1 night away from the city to relax and enjoy the bird park. The hotel wasn't very busy when we stayed there as we only saw 3 other guests.

The food was good but a little too pricey compared to what we had been paying in other parts of the state. We ate lunch, dinner and breakfast and all were good. We enjoyed a campfire that evening to stay warm. The owner and his wife were there with us. All of our group (5 of us) wanted some chocolate so he sent an employee to go to the store and he came back with 5 Kit Kats. We weren't even asked to pay for them(good service).

We were able to pay for all of our meals upon check out instead of paying after each of our 3 meals that we ate there. The itemized bill was correct for the 2 of us for our 3 meals, another plus.

The first room we had #10 was filled with mosquitoes(over 30 plus we counted). They moved us to another room upon our request. It was upstairs (i think #12) and wasn't as nice but there were no mosquitoes, which was most important to my husband and I. The other 3 people traveling with us had no problems so I think the door had just been left open to the room before we checked in allowing them to enter the room.

The wifi was only available in the office/reception area until 5pm we were told so we didn't utilize it. We arrived around 1pm then had lunch and off to the bird park by 3pm.

The bed was actually a king bed instead of 2 twin beds pushed together. It was a great night of sleep.

Convenient location, good rooms and quite nice garden,,,though this one will disappear soon in order to give place to more rooms and more money. The place does not welcome indian guests and not cheap travelers, They want their money but have not realised that they should also offer something in order to deserve it... It was really well ran some years ago, Unfortunately it did not last very long. Better to be avoided at present times !

“Convenient place for exploring the bird sanctuary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We arrived late in the day after a long drive and were offered 2 rooms in different price ranges. The larger, garden facing room was certainly a fair bit nicer than the cheaper room we opted for, and worth considering if your budget will stretch, but we were happy enough with our relative cheapie.

The room itself was a decent size, our double bed was two singles pushed together, as seems to be the standard practice in many places in India, the bedding was clean and comfortable and overall the room was quite clean, although it must be said that it did smell rather musty and at night time the room was actually very cold. Shower was also a good size and hot water worked fine.

The front of the hotel was going through a bit of a renovation when we were there but the new reception area, when built, looks like it will be very nice. The gardens were also very nice and well maintained.

Overall we found the place to be nice and friendly and the staff all seemed very smiley.

The restaurant was nicely appointed and served up fairly nice food, although my only complaint would be that despite being told we could order off the menu earlier in the day, there was a pretty strong hard sell by the restaurant manager for us to have the buffet dinner even though we clearly didn’t want that much food.

The hotel is located only a few minutes walk from the entrance to Kholeodao Ghana Bird Sanctuary, and there are also plenty of cycle rickshaw drivers outside who can guide you through the park at reasonable fixed rates. We had a fabulous guide and were very impressed by the abundance of bird species you can get to see in a few short hours.

Overall we thought the Birders Inn was a nice place to stay, if a little on the expensive side for our backpackers budget.

“A birder's paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Compact little hotel with spacious rooms, wonderful staff, and excellent service. Swimming pool is open all year around but water in January is only 10C so be aware before you jump. Free WiFi available in the dining room and patio area. Food is okay, but spice levels have likely been moderated for the palate of its primarily European guest list. Hotel is located about 500m east of the entrance to Karlakoa National Park.
