We arrived in Munnar after dark and looked around several hotels searching for a decent room at a fair price. Munnar is a bit of a scummy town in my opinion, only really worth visiting as a base for exploring the surrounding landscape. Isaac's Residency had the best rooms and was not the most expensive. We also managed to negotiate a decent discount from the standard rate as we arrived in town so late.
We ate dinner in the restaurant (the only place with an alcohol licence within 90 km so even if you don't stay here you will be drinking in their bar!): the food was good and reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet which was also included in our room rate was very good and kept us going until dinnertime.
The service is very good indeed at this hotel and we had a nice view from our room.
