“Ideal for Honeymoon.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

I am a hotelier by profession so when it was my turn to plan a trip for myself, i was very cautious about where i go. After finalizing Kerala as the destination for our honeymoon, I cam accross camp noel through Trip Advisor.
The experience did not start on a good note as the hotel reservation refused to acknowledge my reservation made through Expedia stating that "Expedia" was unofficially selling their room with out permission !! After a lot of emails up and down in between myself, expedia and the reservation team at Camp Noel, the matter was sorted.
We left from pune very early in the morning to catch a flight from Mumbai to Cochin, then we were picked up by our driver Mr. Vergeese at the Airport. He is a very kind gentelman who was very happy to see us and assisted us with our bags. He was carrying a placard with my name misspelt so badly that, had it not been the name of the resort mentioned, i would have completly missed him. (I took the placard as a soviener!!) The journey is a long one from cochin but the sights are beautiful. We took around 6 plus hours to reach the resort by which time it was already dark.
It was pure bliss post that, The welcome at the reception was warm and we were taken to our private villa / chalet immediately post registration. The villa itself was huge and spacious and had two fire places. They even helped me put up a nice log fire.
We both had such a peacefull time there that we didnt want to leave at all..
All in all its a great place to visit if you want to escape from the world.
Advice to people who stay there, be ready to wait for your food as the service time is min 1 hour, but the service staff more than makes up for the wait. Their reception is very cozy and built around a fire place, so we used to place our orders and then have a beer at teh reception and then head to the restaurant for dinner...

“Memorable Trip to Munnar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This was our second trip to Munnar and it was long drive from Bangalore. We had heard of this place from one of friends. I was not quite sure if it would be good. We had park our car at Top station where they had their security Guards.

It was 1/2 hr drive to resort from the top station. As soon as we were here the location of the resort was breathtaking and it was splendid. I was delighted to see the view of the location. The resorts consist of cottages with a kitchen. The cottage is quite cozy and luxurious. The cottages have 2 fire place and 2 rooms. The rooms are quite far and complete privacy. The property is well maintained and very beautiful.

The staff here are very good, polite , very courteous and good hospitality. They can be given 10 out of 10 points. The resort provides excellent food. They serve both Indian and Continental which are excellent. We went during Valitine day to the place and we really did have any plans for the day. To our surprise they invited us for candle light dinner. But we loved the dinner at cottage near the fire place. The next day we had option to either to go see around Munnar or trek to nearby hill. Since we had already seen Munnar , we opted for trek. This was one of the awesome trek we had. We left around 11 AM and were back by 4 PM. The guide who came along with us for trek was quite helpful and knew about the hills quite well. When we reached the top of the hill it was awesome view of Palani city.
This is one of the places one has to visit atleast once. We speak about foreign places but in India too we have one of the most romantic, breathtaking and spectacular places . The Camp Noel is one such which will not disappoint you.

Room Tip: All the cottages are excellent.

“Good Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

It was a long drive for us. We knew we were getting into the right place for vacation after the strangely unpleasant summers we were experiencing back home in Bangalore.

We (a family of 8 adults and 3 children with ages ranging from 3 to 65) were literally at our wits’ end, when we heard that it would take an hour and half more from Munnar to reach Camp Noel, when we got to Munnar.

It was my anniversary and I had called the resort folks to arrange for cake sometime in the afternoon. While no promise was given, I got a call when we were mid-way to Munnar informing me that the cake would be ready. We had a hearty dinner and retired to bed soon after the anniversarycelebration.

The next morning, we were woken up by chirping of birds and when I opened the clean white window-screens I was completely dumbstruck by the beauty of the place. Neatly silhouetted against the green mountains were these nice little cottages orderly arranged in a descending slope. Our earlier day adventure (or misadventure of travelling too far with young children) had left us with little energy to enjoy the beauty the previous night, but the morning dew, coupled with the fresh air and breathtaking beauty left me with a feeling of complete peace.

We did go back and forth the next 2 days to Munnar and nearby places. But everytime we came back to the resort, we were completely mesmerized by the beauty of the resort's location, the peace it had to offer and the service of the people. The access road that snakes through the top station is nicely laid and the gorgeous mountain ranges on both sides make it a nice place for a vacation. One needs to take a detour some 2-3 kms before the top-station to reach this resort and drive through 8-10 kms in dingy local roads.

What stood out for me in the resort was the attention by all people in the resort taking care of our little needs (said and unsaid). I was a little bothered by the last 3-4 kms though, although it was a conscious decision to stay in this resort. We knew about the roads and that was something that we decided to live with even before we started. The photos in the website did not look artificial and what we saw in the website was nearly what we got.

Since, we were a small group and not too finicky about the route to this resort for the last 3 kms and wanted a clean, calm environment we decided to try Camp Noel. Yes, it is isolated and one needs to travel 40 kms from Munnar town. But, we loved this place, because we wanted to escape from the urban chaos and needed a peaceful ambience for a few days and Camp Noel perfectly filled in our needs

“Unique experience in Munnar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

If you are looking forward to staying at a quiet, calm place in the middle of tea plantations, Camp Noel is your best choice in Munnar. It is an exceptionally beautiful property.
I visited there with my wife, daughter and parents who are 70+. They provided us with a complete bungalow type cottage. This European styled cottage had 2-fire places, 2-bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen. There is quite a far distance between two cottages, providing complete privacy to each cottage. The surroundings are lovely. Their service is fantastic. We had some issue with hot water and we called them at least 5 times. Every time we called the person was at the door within 3-minutes. They have small restaurant and few amenities. Their tea is excellent, but food is just OK.
This place is about 9-km from Top Station and the approach road is completely rural through various tea estates. We enjoyed off road adventure in our SUV. They recommend reaching there by a Jeep (arranged by them) from Top Station.

Room Tip: They do not accept credit cards. Do not reach the top station after 4 o’clock. It is will get dark...
