This was my third time to Ohrid but it has been 30 years since I had an overnight stay there. Hotel Granit was built in socialist times, but has been renovated to 4 stars standard. It is a cosy hotel despite its size with nicely renovated rooms and common areas. View on the lake is beautiful and pay attention to get a room with a view and not the other, hill side. Hotel itself is some 6 km away from center of Ohrid, so one should have a car or order a taxi (inexpensive). Just in front of the hotel there is a beach but I was told even during the summer water is not very warm (there are springs feeding the lake with cold fresh water). A small road leads towards St. Naum and Albanian border and runs just behind the hotel but due to the general quietness of the area you can hear cards passing by if you have hill side room, or if your room is on the corner of the building. Have no major worry, traffic is sporadic. Breakfast was included in the room rate (I paid bit less than 50 EUR for night) and includes eggs, saussages, cheese, pies.
