I have just spent four days at the wonderful Millenium hotel. As a Canadian, such a fine boutique style hotel would have cost at least four times what I paid in Bitola (60 dollars a night).
Located on the chic and trendy Shirak Sokak pedestrian mall with all its tasteful bars and cafes, the rooms are situated in such a way that I didnt hear any street noise at all- none.
I had a single room with wall to wall window, patent leather settee, brass fittings throughout, hardwood furniture- polished and precisely chosen to evoke the period that the hotel successfully attempts to capture- a kind of neo-baroque Austrian era (I t think).
Marble stair cases, and an art and antique collection that is better than I saw at any museums in Macedonia- each painting appears to have been selected to emphasise the period- Klimt- etc, and is tastefully displayed in the beautifully lit hallways.
The bathroom- well, let's just say I'm not one who would normally waste film on a bathroom- but this one called out to be photo'd. Luxury.
The breakfast buffet was outstanding- everything you could want- from serb specialties to chocopuffs. And the best (only good?) coffee in Macedonia.
The staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient.
I would return to Bitola specifically to stay at the Millenium- and just as an aside- anyone planning a visit to Macedonia- I would certainly include Bitola in the fall on my itinerrary.
