“Very good but needs updating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Stayed here for 3 nights in October (2011) and find it to be a very good hotel. Bit dusty and dirty but I beleive that they have been closded for several months given the unrest. The staff were all very pleasant and the food was a typical buffet but perfectly acceptable. My room had a working air-con and a full size domestic fridge!! The electric sockets looked like they might have had an overload or two but were perfectly servicable. Very handy for a short walk into Siwa itself which is a very nice oasis town but it is very "traditional" and has absolutely no alcohol on sale anywhere. Had no problem with mozzys or smell but then there was no standing water.

“Mosquitoes Ate Me Alive”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

What a dump! Screens were missing on the windows so at night mosquitoes ate me alive. I had so many bites I looked like I had the measles. Eyelids, ears, face, you name it. This happened with using repellant. ;Bed were hard and lumpy. Linens were cheap coarse sheets and meager towels. Floors were ancient linoleum. Bathroom was basic. Food was ok but not great. Service was nonexistant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the newest section and check the presence of screens.

“Could be excellent with more care”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

This is a pleasant complex of two storey buildings scattered around nice gardens. Especially pretty at night. Because of the political situation in Egypt they haven't had many visitors over the past 8 months so the manager admitted they have become lazy about cleaning and maintenance. We requested a room on the ground floor but it was dirty. A profuse apology was offered, the room was cleaned and the broken tiles fixed in the bathroom. The beds were hard and the aircon was noisy and blew out dirt into the clean room as soon as we turned it on. The breakfast and buffet dinners were good. However we would have liked warm water for washing and showering. The road to Alexandria has been upgraded and the beginning and end of the new road from Cairo is complete. Work is continuing. There are great things to see around Siwa and we think this hotel could be an oasis in this wonderful desert area. We wish them well in the future.

Room Tip: There are two flights of stairs to upstairs rooms so if you need a ground floor room ask for it.

“not far from city centre, simple but good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

siwa is a small town on the edge of the desert. its the starting point for desert tours. siwa paradise hotel is only 10 minutes walk to the centre of the city. a compound of small buildings. i would not recommend having a room at the back of the compound because there is a small water pond which is realy smelly.
the rooms are very simple, clean, the shower is not.
service was good, the breakfast was simple but good, the dinner buffet was excellent.
inside the hotel compound is plenty of space to relax, reading a book or writing letters/ diary. there is a nice pool in this compound.
i can recommend the siwa paradise.

“Simple, atmospheric, but needing some TLC”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2009

Stayed here 2 nights at end of tour of the oases with Ancient World Tours. Found the place rather endearing, but certainly not up-market, and some hilarious design choices. Be sure you visit the "lounge" opposite the reception office - a riot of colour and the very opposite of minimalism. However, I did find it empty, with a comfortable table and chair to write up my journal, so it served its purpose. I suspect the rooms vary in style and condition, so be prepared to check out a few. Mine was upstairs, with a palm tree piercing the walkway to it, and had a ramshackle charm. Dodgy-looking electrics (but everything worked, including noisy aircon and anti-bug plug), chaotic bathroom (but again all worked well), garish ill-fitting bedcovers on very basic narrow beds (but I slept peacefully). Hotel seemed fairly full but it absorbed the people and was quiet, and the spanking new pool was totally empty. Staff were all helpful and very friendly and the dinners and breakfasts were good, once you worked out the system. Only a short walk to the centre of town and the ruins of Shali, both worth exploring on your own.
