“Cute and Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

A great place to stay...good location with an old homey atmosphere. It was a workout hauling our bags up 3 flights of stairs, but it was worth it to have access to a roof top deck
where we enjoyed a glass of wine and watched the sunset.
The beds are very firm and the walls a bit thin. Take the not so good with the great.
Because of the charm and safe feeling, we opted to stay there a second night while we visited Split.

“Old-world charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

This hotel has a lot going for it: location, character, beautiful decor, and a good restaurant serving local specialties. It's perfect for those who seek old-world charm and aren't afraid of a few old-world inconveniences, namely, carrying your suitcase upstairs, dim room lighting, furniture that is more elegant than it is functional, and limited vehicle access. My experience with the staff was relatively positive. They called to reserve a taxi for me and changed my burnt-out lightbulb quickly. I occasionally sensed a bit of exasperation on their part, but I suspect it's because the small staff may be stretched a bit thin at times running both the hotel and the restaurant. That could also explain why the breakfast was decent, but not stellar.

Room Tip: Get a lower floor if you don't want to haul your suitcase as far.

“A hotel that lived up to its reviews”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

For a three day stay we had an excellent, comfortable room with a very large bath in a hotel which whilst in the narrow medieval streets of Trogir, was not at al clautrophobic. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly. The hotel restaurant has a menu more extensive and with mote apparently genuine local dishes than most of the towns other restaurants. The discount for cash rounded off a pleasant stay.

“Good location, questionable decor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

Good location (inside Trogir old town), but a bit sleepy service. Rooms kept in castle style, nervous wall papers and hard beds. Had some charm but wasn't up to other hotel experiences in Dalmatia.

“Should try harder”

We stayed one night here, arriving at Split airport, and renting a car. From the airport to Trogir is a very simple 10 minute drive, even in the dark.

Hotel Pasike is on the tiny island that makes up the ancient centre of Trogir. Arrival is a bit complicated, and not at all as described on booking dot com. You drive over the narrow bridge that connects the island to the mainland and turn right. Here you have to stop and phone the hotel to lower the bollard that turns the road to the hotel into a semi-pedestrianised area. The hotel is on the left, in around 200 yards. For overnight parking you have to reverse this process to reach a car park on the mainland. There's a footbridge to bring you quickly back to the hotel.

The hotel is small, and sits behind its restaurant, where breakfast is served. Our room was clean and well-equipped, and had fast wifi internet available, but was on the third floor. There's no lift, nor was help with bags available, so you need to be able to carry your essentials up to your room.

Our shower room had a complex "hydrotherapy" shower, but this was broken so only one shower head was working. The problem really was that the shower water in the morning was lukewarm at best. And there was no plug in the sink.

Breakfast is served from 7 till 11am, but when we went down at 9, after a decent night's sleep, only remnants remained of the initial buffet. The water for making tea was tepid and only instant coffee was available. There was a chef hanging around to cook eggs, but he made no effort to re-stock the buffet. There was, however, plenty of fruit on a stand, maybe because previous guests had been put off by the mildew on the topmost orange.

Previous reviewers have had much better experiences here than we did, so it seems to me that the hotel can get it right some of the time. What the Pasike needs to do is to try harder to get it right all of the time.

Room Tip: Avoid the third floor if you have heavy luggage
