“nice, friendly hotel close to the Split airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2010

We found the hotel by the signs posted on the roads as we were driving into Trogir. We were pleased we did. We stayed for one night in the middle of our trip while visiting the quaint town of Trogir. We realized that it was very convenient to the Split airport, so we booked for a second time for the night before our 6 am flight from Split. It is very close to the airport and took us 5 minutes to get there, albeit it was 5am. On our first stay at the hotel, we had a very clean, small room with a great balcony looking towards the old town. The previous reviews are correct in that there is a barking dog on that side of the hotel and the planes do come over head, but there really was only a few planes (none overnight) and it was not an issue at all. And, the windows are very soundproof. On our second stay, we asked for a room on the other side of the hotel because I noticed the balconies were bigger (and we enjoy our happy hour outside). The receptionist gave us a wonderful room - large, very clean and great beds and bedding. We were so pleased and loved the room. I have to say also, the customer service of the two sisters (they both work at the front desk) was fantastic. They organized our room for our second stay with a great price (we paid cash) as well as a ride to the airport for our early morning flight. Thinking that we were going to miss breakfast the day we left (because it was so early), we were very surprised that the girl packed us a breakfast to go - a sandwich, fruit, juice and yogurt. We were very impressed. These two sisters are great. They are helpful and pleasant. The hotel is in an odd neighbourhood, still a little undeveloped, but we thought it was great - 5 minute walk to the old town. We travel to see how the locals live, so we enjoyed not being right in the tourist zone. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay on your visit to Trogir and especially if you are looking for a hotel close to the Split airport. Thanks to the sisters for their increcible hospitality - it made an impression on us.

“Very Good Hotel, A Little Overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

Very nice hotel. Free wifi internet in the room! Absolutely no complaints except that I felt it was just slightly overpriced ($161 night). Balcony was great with a fantastic view of the historic old town in the distance (about a 5 minute walk). Previous reviewer was correct about the barking dog and the flight path of Split airport being directly overhead, but the double glazed windows kept all of that noise out once the windows and balcony door were closed. Flights into Split are not all that frequent anyway. No noise from the hallway as there is a second closeable door leading into the bedroom area. Originally, I was concerned that Trogir might be too far from Split airport but it is actually only about 3 bus stops away (Cost: 12 Kuna). The hotel itself is about a 10 minute walk from the bus terminal once you arrive in Trogir. We booked a one night stay here for the last night of a 12 night stay in Croatia so we could be near the airport on our departure date. Excellent choice. We fell in love with Trogir and were pleasantly surprised by that. We really wanted to extend our stay but couldn't due to airline ticket restrictions. I look forward to returning to Trogir and would definitely stay at Hotel Palace again if the price was just a little bit lower.

“Great hotel, let down by the neighbourhood”

We stayed in the Palace for 5 nights. Our room was clean and comfortable and the whole hotel is very well presented. Breakfast is the standard fare well presented. We had a beautiful view over old Trogir from our balcony. The downside was all about the area. A nearby dog which barked at all hours, the flightpath into Split at low level over the hotel (affecting all Trogir old town I'm afraid) and the walk into the old town along a busy underdeveloped road with cars parked haphazardly and a lack of sidewalks. Useful therefore that the hotel windows are pretty soundproofed or sleep might have been much interrupted.

“Overpriced, upmarket travel lodge with a view (if the coach wasn't parked there)!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2010

Arrived on a hot August afternoon at 2.55 p.m., shown to our room by a receptionist who let us know she was due to finish at 3.00 p.m. although she did take the time to show us to our room. The room was small (premier inn style) with no mini bar or fridge (we were told one was on order and may get one the next day-this never happened) lovely, large walk in wardrobe with no coat hangers (receptionist brought some) the air conditioning wasn't working (recpetionist arranged to have it mended - quickly may I add).
We upacked and looked for the bar - the bar consists of a small seating area opposite the reception desk which was unmanned and reluctanly we had to go into Trogir to get a drink.
The next morning we went down for breakfast which was in an area without windows and consisted of a coffee machine - which produced the most undrinkable coffee I have ever tasted,, cereals, scrambled eggs which were replenished by the cook by throwing the fresher eggs (dried eggs mixture) over the eggs in the container, tiny rubbery croisants and minimal choice of fresh fruit. The staff appeared to take their breakfast in the better restaurant (a much more appealing area - apart from the coach parked obstructing the view) at the front of the hotel.
One evening whilst using the lap top (on the bar) we overhead the receptionist wearily dealing with clients and potential clients who were asking if there were any rooms available, when the 'coast' was clear of customers she then proceeded to make or take a private call excusing herself for not being able to take the call (she was working!) using bad language.
Overall the professionalism and the courtesy of the staff was certainly not 4 star and the breakfast was something I would expect from a cheap and cheeful travel lodge.
There is no area at all outside were you can sit and have a drink or relax - it is merely a hotel suitable for business clients who need a bed for the night and a quick breakfast without any need to bother the ladies on reception. There are far superior hotels within the Trogir area which I would advise anyone to seek out.

“Lives up to its prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2010

Excellent staff, clean and comfortable rooms, good standard of cooking in the restaurant, excellent breakfast options and beautiful views from the balconies. This hotel is not cheap, but it offers everything you could want if you're adult travellers enjoying a leisure trip or even travelling on business. The free high speed wifi worked beautifully all break. I noted aircrew staying overnight, as it's a good standard hotel only 4km at most from Split Kastele airport. This does lead to the hotel being directly under the flight path to and from the airport, but the airport isn't as busy as some other tourist destination places. Additionally, the very modern double glazing ensures that not too much sound penetrates if you've got windows and doors shut. As has been noted before, it's a very short walk into the beautifully picturesque old town, which is full of lovely bars and cafes. There're also local supermarkets and bakeries on the road adjacent to the hotel, where the passenger ferry to Split also departs. The hotel isn't cheap, as noted before, but offers good value in the quality of service, furnishings and luxury. The inhouse Antonio restaurant is similar - great food, but slightly more expensive than those in the old town. If you like to travel in style, this may well suit you!
