“Great Customer Service”

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at the Casa Garzotta Botique Hotel! We stayed for 2 nights in August and would definitely recommend it! We drove along the Croatian coast and upon arriving in Rovinj, called the hotel for further directions. We were given very clear instructions on where to meet Ivan, who was waiting on a scooter to lead us to the hotel. The Historic part of Rovinj is pretty confusing, so we were extremely grateful to have him leading us! All we had to do was park our car, and Ivan escorted us to the hotel lobby. Marina was very helpful giving us a map of Rovinj, giving us a rundown of good restaurants and activities, and then showing us to our room. She was very helpful making reservations for us for dinner as well. Ivan had carried our luggage up to our room (which was very impressive due to the steep, numerous stairs) and had parked our car for us while we were being checked in. The room was pretty basic but very clean and had the essentials including a good AC!

We thought the location of the hotel was great. The historic part of Rovinj is not that big, so we could easily walk everywhere we wanted to go. The hotel is far enough away from the main areas that it was quiet when we wanted to sleep! We loved the restaurant where breakfast was served. It was just a short walk from our hotel, and they had a nice variety of fruit, cereal, meats & cheeses for breakfast. The restaurant itself was so charming and the staff very friendly!

When it was time for us to leave Ivan had pulled up the car and while we were checking out loaded our luggage for us and escorted us out of of Rovinj again, via scooter.

We absolutely loved Rovinj and would definitely stay at the Casa Garzotto again!

“IDYLLIC!!!”

We have many memories of Rovinj, but Casa Garzotto is at the top of the list. Arriving late at night, we were lead to the hotel by Ivan (as nice and hardworking of a person as he is, he should have the title "Ivan the Great"!)--his hospitality was the start of a wonderful stay. We had dinner at Barba Zuane, whose food is as good as its rustic character is charming (our fish and steak were both excellent). Afterward, we rounded a couple of corners to our rooms in the annex; some have written to watch out for all the stairs, but we had a feeling of walking back in time. Walking through town the next day allowed us to appreciate how centrally located we were in relation to all the beautiful sites of Rovinj!

“A memorable experience!”

Please read review of October 16th, concur with almost everything that they said! We stayed here at the same time, on the floor above the reviewers from Atlanta. Ivan is the most valuable asset that the Casa Garzotta has, a tireless worker with a great personality! Stay in the main building, even with the stairs! The breakfast was amazing! Our only drawback was our dinner. My partner had a fine meal. I ordered a special cut of meat, which was recommended. The server came back stating that they were substituting another equally good cut of meat, because they ran out. My meat was so tough, and was charged the same price. I mentioned it to the server, but nothing was done. That was unfortunate. Again, Ivan made the stay amazing!

“Cool boutique hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

I traveled with nine friends to several cities in Austria, Croatia, and Slovenia. Our nights in Rovinj, Croatia were spent at Casa Garzotto (with two travelers overflowing to the sister hotel around the corner).

Casa Garzotto is essentially an old town home in the cool, quaint, old town part of Rovinj. The hotel has four rooms - one on each floor. The rooms are amongst the largest I have encountered in Europe (typically I go with 2-star and 3-star hotels, mind you), and they are decorated with old photos of the former owners of the house and other locals. We felt like we were truly the guests of a Croatian family.

Because there were so many of us, we booked the entire hotel. We used the ground-floor lobby as a hangout and meetup spot. Not a bad idea for a group traveling through Rovinj.

Ivan (pronounced EVEN) was our desk attendant. Super-helpful, friendly guy. At times, he helped us arrange pizza delivery when many restaurants were closed down, tiramisu from the adjacent restaurant for one of the travelers' birthdays, and restaurant reservations for our large group. He fetched our cars whenever we needed them, gave us ideas of sites to see, and helped serve us in the hotel restaurant. Ivan really contributed a lot to our experience.

Breakfasts at Barba Zuane, the associated restaurant were good- standard European offerings - cheeses, cold meats, boiled eggs, breads, etc. We had an excellent dinner at Barba Zuane the night we arrived. It was one of the pricier options in town, but was lively and offered great local cuisine. I recommend it.

Room Tip: Room 1 is the closest to the ground floor. If you have lots of luggage or just can't deal with...

“Hard to find but worth the effort”

We travelled by car down the Croatian Coast with the help of a GPS (esential) but without a cell phone. The hotel is in the old Historic town and did not register on the GPS so we had no idea where to go. Luckily we parked and found a delighful gentleman who walked me to the hotel where they were waiting for my phone call to give us directions, unload and park the car.
After that scramble, all was terrific. The staff went out of their way to make our 2-night stay enjoyable in the perfectly decorated 500yr. old building. The breakfasts were very good and we had 2 of the best meals of our 3-week trip in the restaurant owned by the hotel. One night the owner Dario brought a huge platter of mussels to our table and explained they were "sur la maison", brought in by a fisherman friend of his that morning so he shared them with his guests.
Highly recommended for the ambience, location, and service but be sure to find out how to get there if you are driving.
