Stayed at hotel in July ’11 for 1 night with partner. $180EU for an attic room 6 flights up (no lift). No fan/window in bathroom. Squashy room was very musty. Linen clean but blanket, carpet & mattress were highly questionable. Don't recall air conditioning. Asked to change rooms. Other room was the same quality but more expensive so we stayed in first room. We're from Australia, travel a lot, saw pretty much most of Croatia and during our time Hotel Angelo was the most overpriced hotel we found for the quality. I remember feeling very disappointed and ripped off at the time.
Despite that, the positives are: the hotel breakfast was very good and held in a pretty courtyard. Hotel is also in a great location.
The second night in Rovinj we stayed in a ‘home stay’ apartment found via travel agent in town. MUCH better value for money ie. $70Eu for 2 adults, clean and tidy, private entry and ensuite, great location as well. We found one home stay for $35Eu in another town that also had private balcony overlooking beautiful courtyard, clean room, air con, ensuite, safe etc. My point is there is no need to spend a lot of money in Croatia to have a good accommodation experience.
