“Great place for a relaxing holiday”

We picked the hotel in school term to enjoy the peace and tranquility required for a relaxing holiday. Eden is set in it's own woodland park 15 min. walk along the roads to the centre, or 25 min. walk along the sea and harbour front. The room was spacious and clean with a small balcony. The reception area is huge with a bar and seating area to relax at night. Entertainment, singer or small group, was on every night. large floor to dance on. Staff are very attentive. The outside pool is large and has plenty of sunbeds, many are situated within an area next to the pool. No need to 'reserve;' beds. There are pebbly cove beaches with a clear blue sea, great for swimming. Hired bikes from the hotel, about a £1 dearer for the day than those in the town. Pay for the convenience and the hire times are longer. Easy cycling and some good quiet routes. There are maps showing the routes. Rovinj has an Italian feel to it. Many small streets to explore on more than one day. The market sells food ect that is 2/3 times the price of the local supermarket. Good supermarket 10 mins. from the hotel on the way to the bus station. Trips to local towns etc han be organised alot cheaper that Thompsons excursions. Pula and the amphitheatre is worth a day out on the local bus. Veggies not catered for but plenty of choice to make up your own meal. V.good gym etc

Room Tip: The left hand side of the hotel is very private as it is not overlooked

“Amid lovely woodland, near beautiful Rovinj, professionally run.”

We found it difficult to seriously fault the Eden. Our room was spacious, with roomy & comfortable beds,it contained a couch & chairs, decor was bright & modern.Though I would have liked a view to the old town of Rovinj,we still had a view from our balcony over the wooded parkland of Zlatni Rt.The woodland, with its ancient trees,is very beautiful.Service was excellent, staff seemed to make every effort to make you comfortable.Food, though very good in choice and quality, was not quite as good as in some other Croatian hotels. The pool was spacious, with plenty of sun-beds.As with most Croatian hotels, everything was spotlessly clean. All in all, seemed polished and professional in the way it was run.Ideally would have liked to be nearer to Rovinj,it was a fair walk to get to the town. Were forewarned about building noise from the Hotel Lone, but we did not suffer unduly from this. But on the Saturday niight, sleep was disturbed greatly by a pop concert opposite our room!Rovinj is a stunningly-beautiful town,in my opinion the most beautiful on the Croatian coast.Boat-trips trips are easy to book near to the old town. Our trip on the Tribunj, though the cruise around the old town and the islands was very beautiful, the afternoon part to the Limski Kanal was somewhat lacking in interest. Also, the trip was rather lacking in atmosphere & the fish picnic not Nearly up to the standards of others in Croatia. Can highly recommend the sunset cruise from Rovinj. We used the boat Mare.Trip was so peaceful & a beautiful experience, the skipper,Gordan,so helped to enhance our trip!If you wish to hire bikes, the place by the Park Hotel has modern,well-maintained bikes and is not expensive.Come to Croatia if you like beautiful scenery, peace, history & culture.Dont expect lots of clubs or entertainment.

“Enjoyed the stay but wouldn't stay again”

I picked Hotel Eden because of its location next to the Zlatni Forest where we went on a long bike ride (bikes rented from the hotel for around £8 for 24 hours) and its close proximity to Rovinj town. We are not beach lovers so the fact there is no sandy beach did not bother us. We loved all the trees/greenery and the private little coves that you can find if you make the effort to look.
We were really disappointed with the hotel food as it wasn't very hot and they used a lot of frozen vegetables. The choice wasn't brilliant and we ate out in local restaurants as much as possible (Maestral near the harbour is fantastic). They also don't give you any water at dinner and we were refused tap water so had to buy a bottle which was about £3 which is a complete rip off as the nearby supermarket sells it for about 60p! We were absolutely fine stomach-wise drinking the tap water and it tastes fine too.
Our room was fine - beds were very comfortable, the air con worked fine (you just need to turn it on and adjust the temperature - it says it shuts off when the door is opened so maybe that is why some people had problems?) and although our balcony overlooked the car park we didn't mind as we hardly spent any time there anyway.
The staff are friendly, particularly the woman running the coffee shop outside. We also went on the free tour the hotel provides to the Red Island which was really good. My partner and I both had a massage in the spa - his was better than mine but it's always luck of the draw which masseuse you get.
The hotel does look a bit rough around the edges, especially when you compare it to the brand new Hotel Lone next door which we kept looking at longingly when we walked past!
We really liked Rovinj as everything we needed was nearby and there are plenty of trips to keep you busy during the day (we recommend a visit to Plitvice Lakes - it's a long journey but worth it as it's stunning!), but if you're looking for lots of nightlife then you'll probably be disappointed. I would return to this area but I wouldn't stay at Hotel Eden again as the food was so disappointing so we felt like we weren't getting value for money.

“You need to know this”

Rovinj small picturesque and 20 mins walk away to centre by coastal route. Average accomodation in tranquil setting, but very clean. Entertainment less than poor, and although we are over 60 years, we found this to be too quiet. No real beach, but small coves further up coast. There is no nightlife in Rovinj either and the bars and tavernas close at 11pm. They do not even have any music playing. You can have all the peace and quiet you want, but if you would like something more don't go. Hotel Eden is on the edge of a preservation area, just trees and more trees.

Room Tip: If you dont ask for a pool view you will be pushed to the back 129 steps from lifts

“Beautiful Location. Nice Hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

Just returned from two week stay. Endless coastal walks and bike rides right on your doorstep - I would return for the location alone. It is a short walk to the centre of beautiful Rovinj, we did this every day and evening. Istrian wine is great by the way.
The massive pool is immaculately clean and never a shortage of sunbeds or space. The hotel is clean. The food was not amazing but adequate, bit hit and miss but OK. There was plenty of good strong coffee available in the mornings. Comfortable clean beds.
Renting a bicycle is easy and inexpensive. The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful, in fact all the staff were, (including the bike rental guys).

Free internet access and a free safe in the room. As for the Airco, it does work and it was always available. We thought ours was broken too and after I informed reception, the problem was solved. It seems it is on a sensor so you don't have to adjust it, just use the on/off switch. Would be an idea for the hotel to make this clearer because I can see why people would definitely think it was broken.

Yes there were a fair few 'seniors' as guests ... so what - not a problem for us, (we never bother with hotel entertainment anyway, we prefer to explore). If it's a bit of nightlife you are after, go into Rovinj at night as there are are some good places for a later drink. If you're after a party town - don't go to Rovinj. The type of hotel guests that annoy me are parents who refuse to discipline their children .... Seniors are not a problem.

My one complaint of the Hotel Eden is that we had smokers next door to us the second week and at times we were forced to close our balcony door to escape the fumes - it really was disgusting. In this day and age designated non smoking floors should be available.

This is a decent hotel and I would return.
