The Pansion Tamaris is located in a little suburb of Rab town called Palit, rather than Rab Town itself - which is magnificent.
However Palit, itself is not so impressive with lots of concreted beaches and cement housing estates, one of which the Pansion Tamaris is located in.
Pansion Tamaris is really far more of a guesthouse than a hotel, but it does have a nice waterfront restaurant and bar and half board stay there is great value, even when you pay the supplement for a sea-view room - which I highly reccomend.
The rooms were average sized with two twin beds together to make a double. Great Airconditioning, but no lift, tea/coffee making facilities or mini-bar.
Our room was comfortable, adequately sized and with a small balcony and sea view. It was not exactly luxurious however, but the dinner each night was nice and it was all good value.
We found the best deal through the hotel's own website and paid under 300 euros for three nights half board which was good, especially given the sometimes exorbitant rates croatian hotels charge.
Service was friendly and professional, check in and out was fast efficient accurate and friendly.
The location was good in that it was close to Rab Town and handy to visit all parts of Rab from, but the housing estate which you have to drive through to get to the hotel was a little offputting.
There was free limited parking also just outside and it was very quiet and close to both beaches and overlooked a pretty harbour.
Breakfast was also served overlooking the harbour and was quite nice, but a little plain and just adequate portions.
All in all it did what it said on the tin, but no wow factor.
I don't think I would stay here again as though we enjoyed our stay and had no complaints, of all the 6 or so hotels we stayed in touring the croatian islands, this was really the least exciting or inspiring.
We had really wanted to stay in the Arbiana Hotel in Rab Town itself, but that was HUGE money! I did go and have a look at the Arbiana and it did look rather special, but in my experience of Croatian Hotels it is hard to find something between good value and dull and hugely overpriced and impressive.
I don't know where I would stay if I visited Rab again, The Pansion Tamaris really did tick a lot of boxes but hopefully there is somewhere a bit better, in the centre of Rab Town which gives you the glamour of the Arbiana at a price closer to The Pansion Tamaris.
