Having visited and enjoyed a holiday in Dubrovnik a few years ago a friend and I returned to this more northerly part of Croatia and again had an enjoyable time in Porec and Hotel Hostin.
The hotel could be described as small and friendly with it's location and friendly and helpful staff being it's best points.
It is located minutes walk from a beach (pebble beach and concrete sun bathing area) where sun beds can be hired or padded mats bought in nearby stalls. Surrounded by trees with provide shade if it gets too hot!
Near the marina, bus station for trips to say Rovinj and Pula and the old town for history, restaurants, shops and simply strolling.
Also next to stop for the small tourist 'train' which can take you to three purpose built holiday complexes along the coast. Not our sort of places, but interesting to stroll around for a bit or stop for coffee, etc
ALL the staff are friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble to help with and we were always greeted with a smile.
Our room was larger than other rooms we have stayed in elsewhere in Europe, comfortable and very clean.
It had a well sized balconey with table, chairs and stand for drying swimsuits, etc.
TV channels were in Croatian,German or Italian. One general news channel was in English if you wanted to catch up on what was going on.
There was an indoor pool and jacuzzi which was good to cool off in and a sauna and spa and beauty treatments were available too.
We were on the half board option. Breakfasts had a wide selection of continental and cooked breakfasts to help yourself to. Dinner each night povided a selection of well cooked and good quality dishes though at times the selection was 'samey' on a two week stay.
There was a terrace bar for drinks and coffees etc, but not snacks.
All in all we had a really enjoyable stay and would go back again!
