We stayed for a week in September with my boyfriend's parents and had a brilliant time. It wasn't a great start though as when we arrived we were messed around with the time our room would be ready, so didn't get into it until 5pm. Luckily their apartment was so we went and stayed in there- it was in the Mediterranean villa and was a modern apartment with a lovely big balcony.
When we finally got to our apartment it made up for the wait! We were in the yellow villa next to the pool right at the top. Our view was over to the sea and out to Porec, which was beautiful day and night!
The apartments are a great place to start from, with being only a 30minute walk to central Porec. It's a walk along the sea front and a nice thing to be done, however if it's too much to walk back then you can get a water taxi to the hotel for about £2.50 each.
We had a car so could get around the area easily, but Thomson (who we booked with) had excursions arranged so I don't think it would be a problem if you didn't have one. Collection point is at the Mediteran hotel next door, so not far to walk. A warning to anyone booking a trip to the Plitvice lakes - it's a 4.5 hr coach drive there and 4.5hrs back! It's a beautiful place to go but be prepared for the journey!
One slight warning if you like to watch TV in the evenings - it's all in German! We occasionally found a 'Hell's Kitchen' episode that was in English with German subtitles. It's not a major thing but would have been nice to have at least 1 channel we could have watched after a busy day out and about.
Overall I'd recommend the apartments and would go back to Porec again.
Room Tip: We had a lovely room in the yellow villa by the pool!
