“Relax and Enjoy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2007

Just returned from a week in the Hotel Parentium, Zelena Laguna. We had the most relaxing holiday we have had in years. The hotel rooms are basic but very clean. The staff were helpful although not overly friendly. The restaurant was clean and well stocked, food was varied and always fresh. The location of this hotel is ideal for those who want a quiet night but only a few minutes walk if you prefer something more lively. I felt totally safe in this country - we left our balcony door open day and night to allow the air to circulate. This hotel is surrounded by water and I found the sound of the waves very relaxing at night. I had a fabulous holiday here.

“Loved Zelena Laguna and the Parentium”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2007

We stayed in the Parentium in Zelena Laguna this summer and I absolutely loved it. I can see where the last reviewer was coming from but what on earth did they expect from a country with a history like Croatia? It is a poor nation where the average wage is $400 a month!

We found the people really nice and friendly - probably not the most chatty but who cares? I wanted a break from talking!
The buffet breakfast and dinner were well stocked with plently of choice and far better than a lot of the buffet style restaurants I have been to! there was Cava for breakfast if you wanted it and a diet corner for the weight conscience (although I didn't touch it!).

The rooms were basic but spotlessly clean and we had clean towels and bed linen every day. they were a little stuffy but leaving the window open with with the net curtains drawn solved that problem.

We had a room over the pool where we managed to get the last of the sun everyday - from here we were could see 5 or 6 staff scrub the pool area every evening and I do mean scrub! they hosed, got down and scrubbed with brushes, squigied and hosed again every day! How anyone can think it was dirty is beyond me!

We loved the area too - the hotel is on the quieter side of Zelena Laguna so you can take a break from the hustle and bustle and chill out or walk for about three minutes to the busy part of the beach by hotel Plavi - this has all manner of water sports at ridiculously cheap prices and a fab blow up water park!
There are lots of little restaurants around this area where you can have lunch for two and a drink for €12!

You can catch a little train or ferry from outside the hotel to Porec which is a great busy little town! we had quite a few nights out there in some very trendy bars and there is one of the largest nigtclubs in Croatia about 5 minutes from the hotel - my husband loved this! you would not even know that it is there!

Anyway, we could reccommend it highly enough and we are heading back there again next year!

“so disgusting we left”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2007

We were referred by a guidebook and found the place so disgusting that we left upon seeing the room. The guidebook said they had air conditioning. After a stifling ride in a tiny elevator with a buckling linoleum floor, we found our room unairconditioned; in fact, there was no air circulation at all and the room must have been over 90 degrees F. at 8 at night. The hotel is huge with a casino and loud music on the first floor. All the charm of a Soviet era building.

“Just Perfic”

In fact so good in 2004 that we're going back this year - 2007. Beautiful location. Excellent Hotel. Attentive yet not OTT staff. Pretty much on the flat. The sea was marred by algae when we were there last for which the Croatians blame the Italians. If you want to eat out its very good and inexpensive. Unfortunately the food at the hotel was so good that we only ate out occasionally. Istria is also a very short flight away. Porec is very green and the hotel site (on its own peninsula) can provide good shade from the sun beneath the pine trees - that is if you want some shade. And no I haven't been paid to write this report - well not yet anyway.

“Great food, great location! Awful Rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2006

Location is wonderful, can't praise it enough. Hotel was the pits. Unfriendly, unhelpful, and rude staff. Our rooms (Two doubles) were dirty, dark ,small and in dire need of renovation. After a lot of hassle, the 4 of us females were moved to a modern apartment on 4th floor with fridge, air conditioning large balcony with fantastic view. Room would be great for a family but not 4 adults. Fold down settee is be ok for children. But hey! we just made the best of it. Porec is a fantastic place, would go back in a minute, but go to a more mordern hotel. xx

  • Liked — departing, and moving to a apartment on the fourth floor
  • Disliked — fags ends under bed, hairs in bathroom, dull and dark an dismal. View fom tiny balcony was car park
