Have just returned and my family will be looking forward to a 'silent night'. It's very difficult which review to believe, so this is my own honest account.
The Hotel setting was on a pine clad peninsula , one couldn't ask for more, the photos of the Hotel and grounds were perfect. But what you don't see is that it's part of a massive complex called Zeleena Lauguna. Not being snobby this might be just right for you and your family.
But I would have to agree with most of the low rating for this Hotel.
The Hotel was built in the 60's (19) and it's like a time warp.
The Reception staff were great, you could not fault their patience, especially after our third move of rooms. I will put in a good word for the room maid who was a gem she was always cheerful and friendly.
First room couldn't swing a mouse let at lone a cat. Second one we got woken up at 6:00 by the Laundry van and staff shouting to each other. Third room okay, basic but comfortable ish. Well the worst thing was every night the noise from the other local Hotels and bars was so loud you just couldn't sleep. No Air Con so do you leave windows open for air or close and suffocate to dull the noise ? On a couple of nights it went on to five in the morning.
The Restaurant was a total free for all, it was like a 'jumble sale' (or boot sale now) The food took me back to my school days ( and i didn't go to Eaton, excuse the pun) I'm Vegetarian and had a bad time, it's the first time Ive returned from holiday having lost weight.
The Restaurant staff looked like they were doing community service. But as a previous person said the drinks were included and the red wine was good. The Hotel entertainment in the evening was a mixture between Opportunity Knocks and the first round of the X Factor.
Away from the Hotel all of the local Tavernas were good value with excellent service with fully included smiles.
Local Doto Train takes you into Porec , but good to return on the boat , or treat yourself to a Taxi speedboat, good value for four of you.
You will need to hire a car to see anything as no trains and buses are 'hit and miss' and it's so much cheaper than the coach trips.
So no I will not be returing next year I cant afford the sleep loss.
