Porec was lovely and I would certainly love to visit Croatia again. The hotel was ok, the rooms are fairly basic. While we were there, we had a few storms and the roof started to leak in varies parts of the hotel. The food was quite nice, although they did have similar buffet food every evening. I think the hotel had only just reopened for the summer so they hadn't got all of their staffing quite right yet. It was nice that the hotel was on an island away from the town. I have no real complaints and as I say it was ok but I won't be rushing back to this hotel.

Dear WeaselJo,
Thank you for staying with us and for your feedback. The hotel is planned to be renovated like the whole island in the near future so there wouldn't be more inconveniences. The buffet is our standard for 3* hotels and the staff is trained every year to become as better as they can.
Hope to see you after the renovation!
Kind regards,

“Fantastic place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Loved this holiday. Short flight, easy transport from airport and bus took us right to the harbour where a little boat was waiting to take us just about 4mins across to island. No carrying luggage it was all taken care of and delivered at hotel. The hotel was lovely and being on an island there was the opportunity to have a walk in lovely woodland but also plent of room to sunbathe. Although no sandy beach, easy access to walk into the sea although you need to have plastic shoes on. The boat is free & goes every 2omins across to town. Fabulous place with loads to do and everyone very friendly. Great little cobbled stone alleys and courtyards with fantastic food being served. Only downfall was in August when we went was the 48hr music festival in the town which went on all night. The music travelled across to the island and was very noisey keeping everyone awake. Apart from that would definatley go back but check the date of festival first.

Dear AnnabelleWales,
we are glad that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for sharing your opinion about us. The entire island is rocky but we made some nice beaches around it. Like you said, the 48hr music festival is a traditional festival of Poreč held at the end of august (so you can check the dates before or after it). Thank you for the nice words about the environment and the food.
See you soon and kind regards,

“What a fantastic peascul holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

My partner and I stayed at the Fortuna for two weeks in the beginning of September, It was fantastic I loved the peace and quiet on the island and in Porec itself. We had read the reviews and had been slightly aprhensive re the lack of air con and noise. Suffering from breathing problems and being a light sleeper, I thought I could have some problems. We had a sea view at the front and slept with the windows open and on the odd occasion I did wake up through the night it was not due to noise. There was music till about one which was not terribly loud a bit like having the radio on in the background. once at 3 am I did hear it but it was just being carried gently across the 500 metres from the harbour I actually found it quite pleasant as the music they play is 60s to 90s and some modern singers such as Adelle. Which is stark contrast to the boom boom techno music played exessively loud in clubs in the uk( my apologies to anyone who likes loud techno). One of the nicet things we enjoyed was the freedom from traffic noise and polution even in Porec where a lot of the town is pedestrianised. We had a great holiday and will definitly return again. Thanks to all the staff for making are holiday so great especially the pleasant smile and goodmorning frrom the second floor maid, you are a star.

Room Tip: Ignore the whingers they probably only go on holiday to moan about something different

“We had a great time in this lovely location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

Having stayed in this hotel ten years ago, I returned to see nothing much had changed! As others have said, the hotel needs refurbishing, and this is planned for the future. I especially thought the restaurant chairs were worn, hard, and dirty. However, the hotel in general was clean, and the staff could not have been more helpful or professional. Our room on the 4th floor at the front was adequate with lovely views although there was some noise from the boats and the mainland. I would prefer this to having the noise and fumes from road traffic going past. The one night the disco was open I could certainly hear it even though the windows were closed. As our stay was on the last week that the hotel was open, it was not too busy, and the island was a quiet haven to walk around and enjoy different views and find a shady place to sit. If this hotel is refurbished to a high standard I think the star rating would go up- as would the prices as it is in a unique location. The food was plentiful and I am sure most people could find something they liked amongst the choice available.

I think the Croatians are welcoming, calm, and polite people. Porec feels safe. I did not see one cafe offering English breakfasts- which to my mind is a good thing, and I noticed the wines sold are mainly local.

Having been to on many holidays trying to find my ideal place, I think Porec fits the bill. There are boats and trips out, there are shops to browse, there are walks, there is swimming, good food and wine. The scenery is lovely and the original old buildings and streets are characterful and historical.

We took the trip to Venice through Thomsons and I thought it was a very expensive day out and we were bombarded with information on the outward journey.. We felt obliged to book the shuttle boat which would take us back from the town centre to the catamaran for the return journey (15 euros each) because I was worried we would not find the catamaran again as it was emphasized how busy Venice always is etc. We had bought a map on board also! I think we would have been able to walk back as there are plenty of road signs. It is a money making machine of a boat. Behind St Mark's Square the prices in the cafe's seemed normal and the home made ice cream was the best I have had for a couple of euros. My advice would be to carefully plan the day in Venice in order to make the most of the time there. Don't forget to take euros with you if you intend going. Personally, I preferred the quiet of Porec!

I would not go to Porec in the height of the summer heat and humidity, but off season it is my ideal holiday spot not too far away. I have stayed in Rovinj but prefer Porec.

Room Tip: The views from the front rooms are great, but can be a bit noisy and we did not get much sun and our...
