My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Knezevic Guest House in the small worker’s settlement of Mukinje just outside of Plitvice Lakes National Park. The chalet-style house with lots of free parking is easy to find and only a 5 minute drive from the park. The room was generally fine, but we did have two minor complaints (1) the bedding was too short for the bed so either your shoulders or your feet were exposed, (2) the shower drain leaked terribly. We had read that the 5 euro per person breakfast was skimpy, so we decided to look elsewhere on the first morning. Unfortunately, there’s hardly anything besides the national park in the vicinity, so on the second day we gave up and ate the 5 euro skimpy breakfast. Generally the service was good though, so I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Tip: Just across the street from this guest house is a ski chalet with a pizzeria. It’s not a touristy place so English is limited, but we really enjoyed the massive pizza and drinks for less than 75 kuna.
