“Easy budget choice just outside of Plitvice Lakes National Park”

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Knezevic Guest House in the small worker’s settlement of Mukinje just outside of Plitvice Lakes National Park. The chalet-style house with lots of free parking is easy to find and only a 5 minute drive from the park. The room was generally fine, but we did have two minor complaints (1) the bedding was too short for the bed so either your shoulders or your feet were exposed, (2) the shower drain leaked terribly. We had read that the 5 euro per person breakfast was skimpy, so we decided to look elsewhere on the first morning. Unfortunately, there’s hardly anything besides the national park in the vicinity, so on the second day we gave up and ate the 5 euro skimpy breakfast. Generally the service was good though, so I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Tip: Just across the street from this guest house is a ski chalet with a pizzeria. It’s not a touristy place so English is limited, but we really enjoyed the massive pizza and drinks for less than 75 kuna.

“Good location, well worth the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2009

The guest house was recommended by a friend, we made reservations by e-mail (paid around 50 eur/dbl). We drove for a whole day to Plitvicke so we arrived there at midnight. Called before as they adviced us so they were waiting for us to come even as it was so late.
The room was clean, rather small, with a tiny bathroom (you can practically brush your teeth while sitting on the toilet). No TV, no internet.
The 5 eur breakfast is also "tiny" and it comes in only one choice. You can have quite tasty lunch/dinner for 10 eur/pers.
They have a very nice yard and terrace, free parking.
From them you can walk for 10-15 min. through the forest to the entrance of the national park which is a "must see". Be adviced that for the ticket to the entrance of the park you must either have local currency or card - no euro accepted.
For the guest house you must have cash however they accept euro also, not only local currency.

“Near Plitvice Park”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2008

The Guest House was very clean. The proximity to Plitvice Park is its selling point. We arrived in the afternoon and contacted the owner directly. The room was very clean and spacious enough. The dinner on site was OK, but after a day of driving we did not want to go further. The breakfast was sparse.
Plitivice Park is a must see. We arrived when the park opened and took our time to see it all. Would not recommend more than 1 day for the park.

“Fine, with all you need”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2007

We found the Knezevic guest house to be well located, just a few minutes drive from the park entrances.

The room was small, and the ensuite even smaller. The towels were the smallest I have ever encountered in years of travelling. It was however very clean and modern and comfortable. You would not however want to spend more than one night there as there is no communal living area and the rooms are small!

We paid 10 euros each for a meat/fish plus salad dinner, which was fine. You can buy drinks including beer or wine to have with dinner. We paid a further 5 euros each for breakfast which was basically bread jam bit of meat and cheese and tea/coffee. Not that flash.

The lady in charge is not overwhelmingly friendly but ok.

Best of all, the place is non smoking throughout.

The lakes of course are just beautiful, really out of this world, and so worth seeing.

“Perfect Place”

We stayed just one night on our recent visit to the park. The room was spotless, well-priced (about $50) and only about 10 minutes drive to the park entrance. We peeked at the hotel lodges and would definitely recommend this guesthouse over those. Breakfast at 5 Euros/per person extra was a bit lacking, but gave us something to start our day. For those interested, we arrived late one afternoon and began our park exploration the next morning. 6 hours was enough to thoroughly hike the park, leaving us free to move onto other parts of Croatia.
