My wife and I spent the night of October 10, 2011, at Hotel Plitvice, one the 3 Plitvice National Park hotels. We chose Hotel Plitvice purely for its location at the park. As we were travelling by public bus, we wanted to stay right at the park which was the sole focus of our visit. Judging by some descriptions, we had expected an oldish, communist style hotel, but were quite surprised to find a well appointed, modern hotel. Although we had booked an economy room, the room got was by our standards a suite with an entry room with ½ bath, couch and chairs, work desk, island console with TV and mini-bar, a king-size bed, and a large 4 piece bathroom. Because of the lack of facilities in the area we took the half-board option and again were very pleased with the menu choices for a very reasonable price. The reception staff was very professional and efficient, though not overly cheerful, and validated our park passes for our second day entry and allowed us to lock our luggage away for several hours. This hotel was a very welcome stop along our route and while not particularly quaint or unique, it was a very good value and not just a “make do” option.
