If u are looking an exclusive place or at least the one which justifies its 5 star rating - u should stay away from Novi. Credit must be given to the amazing architecture of the hotel and the spa - and the spacious fitness room sporting all possible pieces of equipment and facing the sea is simply breath-taking. And that would be all. On the negative side, you would pay a 5star price to share the hotel facilities with not only the inhabitants of the apartment village but also the members of the public who are allowed against a daily fee. As for the welcome, we were "greeted" by a surly concierge who could not be bothered to help us with off-loading the luggage, or tell us where and how to park while being checked in. We had a room which really looked liked the pictures, if you do not have a zoom or suffer from sight problems. The bathroom was sporting unpainted stains, there are cracks, stains, chips and dysfunctional pieces of equipment everywhere. There were two tiny child-size armchairs (no cushions) and a table without a top for sitting on the balcony, so your highly-priced drinks and glasses must be kept on the floor. The hotel booklets available in the room are either deceiving and plainly incorrect (different references for the cash machine) or cryptic (how to use internet or the minibar, access the safe etc). Too few deck chairs, so get up early and be ready to fight for the one. The beach is public, small, and not of much use. The dinner buffet is generous (very good meat and fish quality, deplorable desserts) yet down to earth, nothing close to the 5 star level. The wine list includes only Croatian wines at exorbitant prices. Breakfast better is better, with no international tea selection (only Podravka, apparently a local brand), and poor bread assortment, coffee poured once after a a long wait. Staff poorly trained, mostly correct, sometimes friendly, and service altogether chaotic. At best you may go there for a day, take a plunge, go to the gym, and make a few pictures from the terrace - abandon all hopes to have a drink there as nobody would be asking you whether you would like to have the one. Btw, it is a family hotel.
