“Incredible service in a great hotel”

We were only planning on spending 2 nights in Makarska but we like the room so much and the location to the beach and amenities that we decided to stay one more. The Staff is exceptional, helpful and fun. The reception was warm and always had great music playing. The hotel is located right in front of the main Promenade with easy access to the beach and free parking. There is a beautiful square right behind the hotel which had great restaurants and a good feel. Things can get loud on Sunday, but the party is fun and shuts down around 12:30. If you are looking for romance, nightlife, fun, relaxation or just a good fun vacation this is the hotel to choose. The breakfast is really good too.

Room Tip: look for the sea view rooms, 201 is worth the extra $$

“Horrible experience. Underneath a very loud disco that plays music until 2 am.”

AVOID! The nightclub is three feet away and plays music REALLY REALLY loud. Closing the windows is not an option, given how stiflingly hot the rooms get with the windows closed in nice weather. If you can sleep in the middle of a rock concert or plan on being out until 2 am anyways, this hotel is the place for you. Otherwise, avoid this place like it's the plague.

I am the new owner/manager of Hotel Porin and I would like to apologize on behalf of the previous management and for further notice, I would like to inform you that all rooms have been sound proofed and each room now has an air conditioning.

I am worried about why you stated that cleanliness and rooms are 1/5.

“Great hotel”

Just back from a trip to Croatia which included a 3 night stay at the Hotel Porin in Makarska. The Porin was fabulous place to stay, we had a room right on the water front with fantastic views over the Harbour area. The staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful. Breakfast involved lovely bread / rolls and cold meat and cheeses which we ate each morning in the outside terrace area. Breakfast is served until 11AM, ideal if you want a long lie. Makarska itself is a busier resort that some of the guidebooks had led me to believe - but it still has a relatively unspoilt appeal. There are fantastic views of the mountains right behind the town. One side of the town has a very large, and quite busy beach. The other side of town has the harbour area and a path which follows the coast around and from which you can enjoy swimming and sunbathing from loads of little rocky outcrops and benches.
