Spent 3 nights here, hotel quite dated and decor tired but large room and clean. Limited menu available for all meals but enjoyed the meals we were served. Lovely walks around this area. Found staff very pleasant and helpful

We stayed at Hotel Lovran for our first night in Croatia. As it was our first night we booked it before we went - but we shouldn't have worried; it was April when we went and Lovran was very quiet, even more so than we were expecting.
Perfectly clean hotel, our room was a really good size with a balcony and views out over the sea.
The bathroom was spotlessly clean and more than adequate with bath and powerful shower.
The TV had CNN and Eurosport which is a result in Croatia as even with sat tv most places can only access german channels. Nicht so gut!
The breakfast was only ok. You'd be disappointed if you were hoping for nice scrambled eggs (they were nearly unidentifiable as such) and sausages (which were boiled) but you'd be quite happy if you just fancied yoghurt, bread, jam or fruit salad. I cannot comment on dinner at Hotel Lovran as when we went down they had stopped serving food - our own fault for not checking!
There is a lovely coastal path along the front of the hotel which is well worth a stroll. There are plenty of cafes/bars and some restaurants around although the latter were mostly Hotel restaurants.
The reception and bar staff were very friendly but the lovely comfy sofas in the bar which are nearest the massive windows overlooking the sea were hogged at all times by other staff from the gym etc! My only complaint!

We did not book anything in advance, and wanted to stay in the Opatija region, most preferably Lovran. As we were driving in Lovran, we found three hotels beside each other, and checked all three. At first look Hotel Lovran was by far the best, and our choice proved totally correct. Clean rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast (which you can enjoy on the balcony of the hotel's restaurant, overlooking the sea). The sea is just a short downhill walk away. The town itself is very small, but has great restaurants. We recommend this hotel to everyone!
