“a clean, comfortable hotel in a great location let down by poor food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2010

We were warmly welcomed at Hotel Park in Lovran and shown to a clean, comfortable room with a roomy balcony and a beautiful view. The rooms at the front are noisy - traffic, people and music from nearby bars. We overcame this at night by closing the blinds and putting on the air conditioning . The hotel has an indoor pool with gym and spa facilities. It has no outdoor space but the sea and gardens are only across the road. It's in the middle of the small town of Lovran which is very pretty with several bars and restaurants and places to sun bathe. We had half board at Hotel Park which was cheap probably because they don't appear to spend much on food. Breakfast was OK but dinner was lacking in flavour and imagination. It was help yourself and the food was laid out just before 19.00 so never hot. The salads were the same every night. Main course was some indistiguishable meat in a brown sauce with over cooked vegetables. Dessert was always little cakes or fresh fruit. The drinks dispensers were covered up in the evening so you had pay extra for water, tea, coffee or juice. I would go back to the hotel because of the lovely staff and great location but I couldn't stomach a whole week of their dull dinners.

“4 stars? I dont think so”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2010

After reading lots of very positive reviews on this very site, we have decided to book room in the Hotel Park in Lovran. Let me first start with the positive.
Hotel was clean and tidy, room was spacious and nice, there was a SAT TV, ADSL internet connection, prices of drinks in mini bar were wery much similar to the prices in bars around the town.
Food was good and fresh and plenty of it.
Stuff was very good , apart from the most important members of the staff-receptionists.
First, let me say that the job of receptionist is a probably most important position in any hotel because that person is a walking and talking advert for the hotel itself.
My impresion of the two of receptionists was that they were there to "do their job".
One of them was very off putting with her phoney smile and limited service, especially considering that she didnt fix neither of two problems that we have had, eventhough she have said it would be sorted the next day.
Very unprofessional. Second one was just too friendly, wanting to somehow befriend guests, which was also very unprofessional.
I guess none of them have had any formal training to be a receptionists.
For a hotel that claims to be a 4 star hotel this kind of service is not tolerable.
And then we are coming to the issue of noise.
Which was just horrendous.
Hotel is situated right on the main road that connects cities on the Opatija Riviera.
Traffic is very busy, noise is very loud, even with the balcony doors closed. There is no help in taking park side rooms because there is only a couple of them and they are also facing the road, just from another perspective. On the sea side in the front of the hotel there is a three or four bars which are making noise up to 12.00.
Room isolation is very bad. We have actually heard water droping in the shower of another hotel room while being in our bathroom.
All in all, if you dont mind unprofessional receptionists and noise, its ok.
But its not a 4 star hotel

“Spotless and friendly”

Hotel Park is situated seconds from the sea in the little village/town of Lovran. It is a lovely building, painted blue with white shutters. It is kept very clean and the staff were all friendly and welcoming, especially Mare the waitress and Lorena on the reception desk, who went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.
My twin room was spacious and was cleaned every day. The cleaner amused herself by arranging my nightie in appealing poses!
I was on half-board and the buffet style breakfast and dinner were of a good standard, plenty of variety and plenty of it.
There was an indoor pool and also a well-being centre with jacuzzi, sauna and various showers. I mistakenly thought this was free -unfortunately not! It was about £3 extra to use the jacuzzi and a staggering £15 for the sauna, which I didn't even like and only stayed in about 5 minutes!!
If, like me, you need your creature comforts on the beach, such as sunbeds with mattress and parasol, showers and clean toilets, then your best bet is to head for Hemingway Beach Resort at Medveja, a 10 minute bus ride west of Lovran. Here there is a spectacular range of sunbeds, ranging from 4 poster beds to boat-shaped rattan beds. Quite expensive (around £10 per day for a normal sunbed, mattress and parasol) but well worth it!
Lovran has a pretty old town, delightful walks along the sea and lots of lovely ice-cream!

The location of this hotel is excellent, right across from the harbor and the promenade. The room and bathroom were very clean and in good order. The breakfast was adequate and plentiful. The free internet was available 24 hours. The staff was very pleasant. All in all above average in every way.

“Good one except for noise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2008

We have stayed at the hotel for one week. Generally it was a good choice.
The room was on the second floor, superior size, looking to the sea.
If you close the balcony door, then it is not noisy but in this case you have to sleep with the aircon turned on for the whole night.
If you open the door, then it is noisy indeed. The main road is just going directly at the front of the hotel (under the balconies). It has significant traffic with trucks, local and tourist busses, a lot of motorcycles, etc.
The traffic is light between 12 pm and 6 am.
Noise is also coming from the harbour where you can find several bars and restaurants. During our stay we had 2 hard nights:
Saturday - there was a wedding and it was extremely loud and went on till 6 am. Friday - there was Lovran Fest with live concert at the harbour till 4 or 5 am, brutal loud (and the music very bad...)
Parking is not easy since the hotel owns only 7-8 slots, rest has to park somewhere else (at the harbour).
They offer good quality of food, breakfasts are very similar each day but dinner was OK except for vegetables.
The pool is not big and does not feature anything special but the sea is very close, appr. 50 metres at the harbour where you can swim. This beach is small but there are several bigger and better ones if you walk to the direction of Opatija.
The city itself is very lovely and the nereby locations are really worth a visit but this is already explained in the former reviews.
